Bless you Grot.
My question is, I have just downloaded and installed the patch, is it now set for 6 levels of promotion, if I don't do anything?
I see the other pak files for 4 and 10.

I did find the new UI and replaced the original in a back up folder.

If I put the new UI in the dll_exe folder(where the old UI was) the game crashes at loading.
If I leave it at the root the game loads fine.
Am I doing this right?

The ui.dll file should be placed in the folder of the game.exe. The game.exe depends on the ui.dll file. What do you mean with "the root" ?

When I installed the patch I checked the dll_exe folder and the original ui_dll was in it.
At the bottom of all the list when you first go into game before Data ect was the new ui.dll.
I cut it out and pasted it into the dll_exe folder in place of the original. And put the old one in a backup folder I made there.
Started the game and had an automatic crash-would not load at all.
When I left the old ui_dll in the back up folder, and put the new ui.dll back where I found it-game loads and works.

I do not have a copy of GZM right now so I can't check.
A ui.dll is necessary in the same folder as the game.exe. If uou replaced the file with ui_.dll then the game will crash.
The dll_lexe folder is just a folder where a copy of the original dll's are stored. Files in this folder should not influence the game. dll Files with an underscore in the name are backup files. So whatever you do. The file in the game.exe folder must be named ui.dll.
I guess the "flooding" and pumping refer to the progress bars in the user interface showing the progress towards getting a unit promoted.
If I'm not mistaking then the number of promotion levels a unit can have has nothing to do with the ui.dll file.

Is this Kostya's model? No, this model was probably made 30 years ago.

about the model.. I was upgrading to win 10 and found it in my old files just sitting there all alone. No info or anything , when opened in tank view it kind of resembled Kostik's style so I posted it with I guess remark. Sorry everyone for the confusion. And all credits to whoever made the model. Cheers
