Totally agree! It's just that during development I test out a number of things, and that particular ship has already been removed as I've been working some more on that area of the town. And please do keep 'em coming! Constructive critizism I mean... While I may enjoy this game and play it, doesn't necessarily reflect any knowledge I may or may not have about warfare or this period of time at all...

More progress in a rather hilly environment. And by all means, working on hills is rather time consuming - at least for someone who's more or less a perfectionist...

Well, using hills works fine as long as the northern hillside is made upp of maximum 0.50 per level, otherwise shadows becomes a problem... I learned that the hard way and had to spend hours fixing the problems... Oh well... still fun... Not entirely done here though... There's something but I can't put my finger on it... Another open space downtown...

So I wanted to create a wall for a smaller enemy base located in the town, and while those custom walls I have mainly reflects conditions where the ground is equal on both sides, whereas I wanted the actual enemy base to be situated above the wall. What to do? I worked my way up to a decent height and then simply placed a suitable road texture alongside. It was a bit tricky to say the least to attach the texture properly, and I had to do it in several sections. But... the question is, does it look weird? Does it work?

I like the idea of creating elevation this way. How did you create the hights for that wall ? For what it's worth, here you have my opinion. (Remember, you asked for it ) -Now who would want to build a defense like that? One little breach in the wall and... -Maybe you should try another road texture. The walls look rather smooth and clean in comparison with the other objects.

(Remember, you asked for it ) -Now who would want to build a defense like that? One little breach in the wall and... -Maybe you should try another road texture. The walls look rather smooth and clean in comparison with the other objects. The wall is unbreakable as you can tell by the image below! And on top of that there's water running between the concrete wall and the military installation. Anyone with an idea to make an entry need to use the one bridge that exists - unless trying from the backside, but that's heavily guarded... And you can see how the height is created. Mind you that you can't use these steep levels on the north side as shadows will ruin the visual appearance, so you have to work with 0.50 height levels and add up til the point you're satisfied! A bit time consuming to say the last, and tricky at it as the map needs constant updates in order to solve the non-synced mouse whenever a height level change has been performed. And by all means, don't ever forget to toggle of the AI grid tool - especially if you have placed items without using the grid tool which at times is necessary as some objects seems to be a bit odd as far as placement concerns... Another lesson the hard way... As for road textures, this was the one I had that worked best. I think I may have added this road texture myself the last time I played this game - about 4-5 years ago... Actually, it's even possible to create a wall like this with the ground equal on both sides. This will present a true unbreakable wall and may add even more difficulties to enter a military installation. The shadows will not be a big problem either as the wall is one tile wide, and the ground on both sides is equal... ;p

Zero, I understand that the walls are unbreakable. I was referring to the fact that in reality this would look a little odd as a defensive position. You must have a steady hand and a lot of patience to create an elevation like this using the map editor. I think this technique would be great to create an embankment to carry a road or railway. Keep on mapping !

Oh absolutely! This would indeed look totally out of place in the real word - at least back then I guess... Still, I'm just trying to make as much use of this - sometimes limited - map editor as possible though! Should I keep the wall as it is or remove it?

You can keep it and give it the look of a sequence of bunkers

Keep the wall Zero. What are the settings you use for creating these heights. I cannot duplicate this kind of elevation.

Then I'll keep it! Haven't decided for what yet, but maybe a set of bunkers will do the trick... It needs to be quickly done, yet very careful of course! Save as often you can... The settings I use are, (for hills); Height Speed; 1.00 Level Ratio; 100%

Some more progress... I'm still located in this area working my way further ahead - although I've spent some time creating the railroad that will run through the town.

I'm constantly focusing on three areas in this town. I have to say that placing this uphill military installation in the center of town wasn't perhaps the brightest idea I had. But I keep telling myself that the area housed an old school or a factory before, and that the Germans simply took advantage of its location. Well, I couldn't help myself but changing the north-east area a little bit. I think it looks much better now...

Long range guns and bombers will turn your map to Hiroshima in 5 min. or less.

Yeah, well... hopefully not! Actually, I'm thinking that perhaps I should deploy allie units in that downtown military location instead, sort of advanced there... And since the town is divided by a canal/sea with the main axis base located on the north side, the scenario could be that the axis will launch several attacks on the town/allies and the final allie task is to capture the main base upnorth?
