I'll be sending out some of the preliminary stuff for you to look over.
RULES:
Whatever I send to you including Software, Models in various states, Completed Works, Masters, Parts, Assemblies, and Export Tools, must stay with you and only you. They cannot be passed to others or distributed in any way. Since you will be receiving some of my work, with various tricks of the trade, this information cannot be shared. What I will teach you, no one else will. But remember, I have made the decision to share my knowledge with a select few so what I have started is carried on beyond me.Substance:
I am not so much concerned about what style or methods you ultimately adopt. I am not so concerned if you decide to work in the future on only custom work of your own, or convert existing works from BK. Conversion of my work is a no-no unless you ask me first and present what your idea is. After my death, my work will still be protected by a 75 year Copyright, but any of my work may be converted, with this statement as permission. So keep this printed out and in a file so you have proof of my words.Timeline 1:
The will be a fast pace class, although we will move at the speed we need so everyone understands the material. You are restricted to only work on class work. You are encouraged to use the tools and try your own projects through this class. Time is limited as to the first sessions, which I hope will be about 3 per week. I have 3 weeks until surgery so hopefully, we can get in 9 class times and you can get familiar enough to work on projects. My Surgery has been delayed by 10 days giving me a chance to heal more in my back and get a little stronger.Timeline 2:
I'll be unable to do anything for about 30 days, with my return being limited by pain and tolerance. But we will pick up again and go into the advanced based aspects of MAYA and the Tools. This part will be very important to you since it is here that my secrets and advanced technical skills will be learned.Who Can Join?
Firstly I'll say any members who has been in this community since January 2015. I do not wish to teach people only coming here to learn this and have them disappear. That runs counter to my goal.
Secondly, you must truly be interested and dedicated to this. If you do not think you can stay up or could fall behind... then do not try this round. Hopefully, if this one works out well, I will do it again in 2016, perhaps at a slower pace.
Thirdly: Since what I am going to teach can be applied to any model for almost any game, I must insist that your first priority will be BK1. You must do most of your work on WW2 or Pre-WW2 models for at least 18 months.
Fourthly: You must be aware that great models take research, drawings, cross-sections, and gaining a great knowledge of the subject. You want to build in scale and not too small or too large or out of proportion. So I must insist that you use all of your talents and skills to this end.
Lastly: If I should die, either before the class is completed, or before the end of 18 months, each of you are released from my terms and have the free exercise to do your best work in the area you wish.
I suggest that you copy/ paste then print this post/message for your files. Once the Students have been seated, this post will be modified/replaced showing those of you that have accepted my Challenge.
This topic is Locked since no comments are needed. Comments may be made on my Project Topic or by email.
I hope many of you are ready for this... because it is long overdue.
One more note: I considered how I would release the Blitzkrieg 'How To MAYA' Tutorial as the companion to many of my other works. In the end, I felt to release such a document was not in the best interests of the community.
I am sure that many would benefit from such a document.... but I do not want to be responsible for spawning a bunch of modelers that are not committed to making the best creations possible. Even a fair modeler can offer models, but we have already seen some of those over time. Are these really worth the modelers time or the communities time? We have had many models that did not work they way they should, some of the game anomalies can be blamed for this, but I myself have failed with several over time. I do not wish to see a flood of bad models just for the sake of someone building stuff as if it is a contests.
This kind of work is not a contest, and cannot be judged that way. It can only be what we the artist desire it to be. The acceptance in the community will either be your success or failure. So better, more progressive works that push the envelope is a must for the future. This level of work demands dedicated artists.
I decided that I will teach this to several at a time so I can maintain control over how they approach this. As I stated, I only want dedicated people. This is perhaps the only way I can protect the future of the game. As the tools become more difficult to acquire, and many of my skills and my knowledge could be lost if I do not pass this on, it is my primary focus to make sure someone can be worthy of taking over all of my archives in the future. As long as my work is in use, I will be always be with you. If that is my legacy in this community, then it is much more than I deserve.
My total works is a collection of thousands and thousands of hours of my research, modeling and the entire collection of all of my work. This work clearly surpasses what any other modeler for this game has ever developed, and especially ---> original works. I am not trying to brag, I am stating a fact.
What I will teach these people can be applied to any 3D game, and might hopefully lead one or two of these guys into a professional career as an artist. I did it, and my son is doing it. If we can do it, then almost anyone can do it if you have the drive.
If that interests you, then perhaps you not forget me and will pass it forward to others one day. You have the chance to work on what you want, as you want to, as long as you meet deadlines. The best part is you can make a pretty good living or even part time extra money. I never worked full time, but made as much as $60,000 in a year with my skills, working part time over 6 months. Time and patience will lead you to opportunity. If that is you, then fantastic.
I open a door... all you have to do is enter.
So send those emails soon... I want to get started in a few days.
MAJOR PAIN
NOTE: If you only have a 64 bit machine with Win 8, then you will not be able to join us at the moment. I am looking for a work around for this.
MAYA 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 will not run on Win *, and 64 bit Win 7, unless you have Virtual Windows Pro for 32 bit machines. All of the software was written for XP and Windows 2000. Win 7 (32 bit and 64 bit) can run all software in XP Mode or Windowed MODE. More Instructions will apply to these users. XP is the desired Operating System, but I realize that not all of you have this. All of my Software and Graphics-ware was created in Linux and Compiled for XP and Win 7 (32 bit).
Depending on the number of STUDENTS and the prevalent Operating System may dictate which of my written Software may be released. I am testing Win 7 (64 bit) for all of it at the moment. It will not run under WIN 8 until I change some of the code.
Anyone that plans to move to WIN 10, it is unknown as of the moment if Blitzkrieg 1 will run in the Operating System. I plan to acquire WIN 10 for testing this. I already do know that MAYA 4.5 will not run in WIN 10, and it is unlikely that my Software will run in WIN 10. If Microsoft releases Virtual Windows for XP and/or Win 7, then we will have a work around, but no mention of these yet.
UPDATE:
All versions of Windows should be able to run the software. I am continuing to do some research but Nephilim also provided me with some suggestions that appear to be correct.
WIN XP
WIN 2000
WIN Vista
WIN 7 Both 32 and 64 Bit
WIN 8 Need some fine tuning
WIN 8.1 Easier than Win 8
I did a full upload followed by a download of material earlier today. Each student will have to adjust the Software for his machine.
The tests today consisted of uploading a XP setup and then download it to a WIN 7 machine. It worked perfectly. So looks like the Machine and Operating System will not limit anyone.
I'm currently working on the Linux Version if anyone needs it.

MY REASONS FOR THIS
My hope is to help some of you become exceptional models builders. The life and future of Blitzkrieg depends on some of you. It will be your responsibility to open new doors and create new things so this game has fresh life. What you will be doing is helping the entire Blitzkrieg Community, old members and our new generations. Yes, these players are coming to us and it is our job to teach them the rules, concepts, backgrounds and how to use all of the tools that make their projects come to life. This is the one thing I can share with some of you to pass the torch over as we enter the future. Most of you know I had a very close call in the last weeks and if anything had been different, I would not be here. I am so thankful for your prayers and support during that time. But I do not want what I know to end with me. I want/need to share my knowledge, my skills and techniques with you. I do not know when I will no longer be around, but time is not on my side. The Opportunity may be a one time deal, but I hope I can do it at least twice.
I suggest that you copy/ paste then print this post/message for your files. Once the Students have been seated, this post will be modified/replaced showing those of you that have accepted my Challenge.
