I've decided to keep a diary of stuff being made, problems ran into and stuff. Will keep it by the day and locked with separate thread for the stuff commenting.

August 2nd, 2016
Spent time thinking what to do first. Obviously the new GUI will be needed, among other things. First of all, the main menu. Blitzkrieg uses BIK video format for cutscenes and stuff and the main menu has two of them - smoke behind the tanks. The original C2012 had those removed with empty TXT files instead. Gotta try and create something new and nice. Probably some scene in the countryside, maybe again couple of tanks in front. I should seriously consider polishing this with BIK animation of movement placed behind.
All of the GUI panels need to be reworked. Don't know how the Nival did the original, probably Photoshop work. Might try to give the game more modern design. Some basic, standard grey colour behind and green, orange and red for the dominant ones. Modern GUI like on Apple devices is promising though a bit unsuitable for this. GUI should be simple yet pretty.
If there is something to correct that is air support panel. I wanted to have Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo buttons for air support and to specify it in the script and briefing but heck - turned out rather bad and stupid. There must be some pictograms instead, simple and clear like in original BK. For fighters just image of plane chasing another, transport should be with parachute pictured, bomber with a bomb, ground attack with airplane attacking ground, recon with some binoculars or radar screen scan. We shall see.
Got to change cursor as well. Not that the original one is bad just it has to be consistent. Original one is cast of metal, just like panzers. New one should use metal and plastic or something. This will probably take a day to work out completely, maybe even more.
First thing first: get the external HD, install BK vanilla, open existing GUI and start reworking it.

August 3rd, 2016Well, the real "work" has begun. First, thanks to my superior wisdom I've kept all the resources (models, skins, objects etc.) saved on an external HDD. Second, thanks to that same superior wisdom I don't have a single installation of BK (found one, Russian language so I am gonna need someone to pack me English localisation and send it to me). Transferred all models and skins to laptop, installed Tanks Viewer, probably gonna install BK Power tools as well, we shall see. The most important is the feeling of watching that intro video again, after so much time has passed. Now I have to plan what to make, unit wise first. List of units is to be the priority, with the possibility of re-use as much as possible. And yeah, Maya 4.5 installed up and running. Damn, I miss that option of smoothing edges in newer Maya-s. Will not be that hard, I guess. I've progressed with animation in the recent years, that should prove helpful (since original KS did have rather bad animations). Tomorrow is the list day and tackling the GUI (ah heck, need to install DDS for Photoshop ).

Got everything up and running. Had to get Anthology version (localisation problems) and started working on the GUI. Tested several approaches for it and so far no big luck. Wanted to try digital screen with modern app icons and rest of the GUI but it turned out quite bad. Also updated the unit list, almost finished Serbian one.
