Doug..we have been privileged to see and do things that at times will make us fall over laughing or curl up into a ball in the corner and cry...and sometimes both at the same time.
And I know were they got the idea for the Walking Dead.A Five Alarm..20 hour..Surround and Drown and/or a 3 day Suburban/Rural Interface fire (did you like that little piece of report-ese). They (the producers) looked at the 1st Due FireFighters and said "they look like they're walking dead"..and the rest is history.
You should talk to the Extreme Games people about your event idea, they would probably like it.
I had a similar situation. Comp wouldn't pay for it and insurance said it was work related. I had to threaten to go to Cheatum.Screwem and Howe.,Esq.
As soon I mentioned that fine establishment everybody fell over themselves getting me fixed

I continue to chug along waiting for the surgery day. Date has been changed so many times I have to keep checking the day-planner to make sure I have everything handled the week before. I will be in recovery in the Hospital for 4 days then released to go home for the rest of the recovery. The surgery this time does include some repair to the pelvic bone.
The date is now May 16th, and will last most of the day. My son and daughter are setting up a link to a Facebook account or something like it to keep family and friends updated. I told them to not worry about it because this is no big deal. But they never listen to me. So if they provide a link here, you can check on me I suppose.
Things are moving along...

Hello Major Pain . When you leave the surgery, you could ride the Orient-Express, you have a 1st class ticket, for rest and recovery. I wish everything goes well for you. A hug friend.

LOL... I like the train set Joe.
Quick mention that the doctor placed me on bed rest for a few days. Somehow I cannot get the hang of that, but my wife has now put here foot down and insisted if I get out of bed today or tomorrow or over the weekend, I will need a Proctologist. Hmmm, I'm not sure what she has in mind.
There are very few thing that I fear, but her, I am deathly afraid of.
I guess the way I was sitting lately did not satisfy the Doc. The last x-ray showed some additional separation along the pelvic bone wall. So he asked me 67 questions to find out what the hell I was doing.
Nothing is simple anymore... everyone gets so uptight when I sit on my ass, even when it is a broken ass. Well that was his term, not mine. He pointed out that your hips make up a substantial amount of your ass. And since half of mine is broken, he'd rather that I just lay down for several days to keep me from causing more issues for him. 10 days, it will not be an issue anymore since I get my 2nd new hip replacement.
On the same hip has to be a record, but he will not talk about that... he has no sense of humor. I have to admit, I find nothing funny about having a broken ass..... and I hope I never revisit this again. Frankly, it has been a pain...... yes... in the ass. But all I can do is try to maintain some level of confidence that he will not kill me.
OK Progress Report... I have been doing some work on our beloved StuGs. Our friend Gagarin sent me some files some time back with technical details that I had overlooked. Well, I made some mistakes, minor perhaps on a models of this scale... but it really ticks me off when I get something or many things wrong.
So some modifications that might be an issue for historically correct individuals are being handled. First of all... there was not a side visor on the right front side of the hull. In that specific location, inside are several layers of ammo that sit on a rack system. There are 2 distinct stacks, one forward, one rear. As the racks empty, they fold out of the way.
Now I have seen this rack system before, and actually in a real StuG on Display. But it never dawned on me that there could not be a Bow M-gunner in the location. I have been tempted over two series of these to add a BOW MG there even though it would have been impossible. So that will never come to pass. And the side visor has been removed. And there are some other issues that have caught my eye in the engineering of these excellent vehicles. So my work is not done on these... The new models will be straight across replacements for what is already in circulation. Some minor adjustments are being made to performance and weapons.
Since I will not be able to work on much (unless I sneak down to my desk) in the next few days... I cannot say if I will get these released before my cutting day. I am going to do my best... but I am in the balance of having a good or bad day if my wife decides to throw here weight around. She has me pretty spooked at the moment... so I have hired a food tester to keep around. He is 7 years old and calls me papa. He has done an excellent job checking my meals. I only have to pay him in 3-musketeer bars, which are his favorite. I let him choose his own salary and we quickly came to an agreement with 1 bar at every meal he checks.
Of course, I also take great pride in hiring this fine outstanding young man. His mom is not to happy about it, but she is just remembering how her grandfather use to give her enough chocolate candy to destroy a house in five minutes. Yes, that was my dad... and he said his job was to spoil my kids rotten. Payback is hell.
Unfortunately, my wife has given hell an entire new definition and purpose if I get caught in the next few days. She works each day so I am sure I can get away with whatever I want to. I am considering looking for little cameras just in case.
Have a great weekend... I will not be far away...

His wife is always right, you have to do what she always says, all other things are not important. My advice is that you rest, to recover soon. By us do not worry, we are still here waiting for you. You can rest easy. Good weekend, we'll be here too. In Canada there is a very serious fire, but you do not have to go voluntary, I know you're capable of that and more. A hug.

Good to hear from you Major. Now remember, take it easy, do not do anything stupid and just follow Mrs Pain's orders. As the saying goes;

QUICK UPDATE:
Well the big day is tomorrow, Monday May 16th, 2016. That is when I turn my broken hip in for a new one.
I will be in the hospital almost all week, with some therapy later in the week to learn to get use to this new hip.
The doctor has told me that the overall recovery might not take as long as we had discussed before. He thinks I might be able to drive on the 3rd Monday after surgery. That would be great since I'm not into being driven around. I will not return to work for at least 4 to 5 weeks depending on my mobility and how the wound heals.
So off I go again; I will check on your guys later.
