Off-Topic @shrad: What version of Ubuntu and Wine do you use? I used to play BK in Linux Ubuntu 12.4 but BK crashes since I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.4 I use Kubuntu 14.04 , Wine 1.6.2, winetricks and PlayOnLinux 4.2.10.

BK on Linux will be the future of this game since the win7 support will also be gone in a time Since I am interested in a lot of nowadays considered "old" games and it is getting harder to get them to work on modern machines I decided to build a retro rig using Windows XP. No internet will be connected. So this won't be a big deal. Unfortunately it is not that easy to find a decent Shuttle XPC for this purpose...

BK on Linux will be the future of this game since the win7 support will also be gone in a time I don't see why support is needed. So far, i am still running BK on both XP and Win7 without problems. The only thing causing problems are IE, but if not connected to the internet, it doesn't really matter. Microsoft always sound so scary when they announce a support stop, as if the OS would stop working without their support. Admitted, this is true for security reasons, browsers and drivers, but BK is outdated and does not need any latest driver at all.

I have been playing BK since 2003 with XP(x86), 7(x64), 8(x64) and actually with 10 Pro(x64). No problem with any Microsoft OS.

The game keeps chugging along no matter what Microsoft does.

True, but I which I could get BK running on Linux again. There are only 2 reasons why I keep using Windows. The first is BK, the second is Mediamonkey.

True, but I which I could get BK running on Linux again. Have you tried Virtual Machine with win XP and BK? Should work fine, I guess. If problematic, probably due to sound driver.
