Second part of my New Year's gift, a smaller one, but nevertheless very interesting. You guys will know what you'll be headed for very soon, if you decide to give this excellent mod a fair try.
The Chapter of Berlin:
A familiar sight: The original Berlin Map.
Though I have played it over a dozen times in various versions, this version DOES have a LOT of life with the new units, gameplay, and design. very exciting map to play, as always.
And now the infamous map:
[These are only fragments, you will have to see and feel the rest of this beauty yourself.
]
Artillery in the streets of Berlin:
What's left of the Railway Station:
[as beautiful as the map is, I had no desire to take unnecessary losses so close to victory, not that I could afford many of them]
Heavy artillery pounding enemy positions in and around the Reichstag:
Enemy positions around the Reichstag:
Approaching the Tiergarten:
Moving In...
German armor is camoflauged, but is outdone by superior tactics employing TDs. Still, there are losses.
Bitter fight in the Tiergarten:
Preliminary attack on the Reichstag failed:
After which the artillery pulverized the remaining defenders. The second assault had only a bit of mopping up to do:
Having secured what's left of the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate, shifting the force onto the Chancellery:
[Maus was a bit of a surprise, but by that time I had such powerful weaponry (plus other enemy units were mostly destroyed), it didn't last long or do much damage]
Mopping up in other parts of the city through which my advance did not lie:
Reinforcement of heavy weaponry arrived after taking this station. But I had already taken the Reichstag and other major objectives, and in any case had heavy weaponry of my own from throughout the campaign:
Troops continue to arrive in front of the Reichstag:
And finally: VICTORY!!
Assembly in front of the particular building so many have striven toward for so long:
There is still the liberation of Prague and battles in Manchuria in the campaign, but I'll leave those for you to check out. And you will be able to begin very soon.
