Hopefully it will be a special game like it's predecessors. And i'd like to see soldiers being a bit more useful!

Hopefully it will be a special game like it's predecessors. And i'd like to see soldiers being a bit more useful! Mh...what do you mean? Infantry WAS useful in Blitzkrieg 1. I've won lots of battles in MP just because my enemy was to dumb to retreat his heavy tanks. Therefore they were detracked or badly damaged and later destroyed by arty.

i used/use the infantries as recon or to support a tank assault, they are lethals agaist AT or artilleries, or to move in a city or in a village where spaces are more close. sure, it occure to provide them a good reinforce support and a good cover by artillery and tanks. anyway, considerations like that of bloodwork happen because too maps have favored large cluster of tanks ... let's try azhul chapter of tedi88.

infantries had the main role in the war. here a shoot of my yesterday re-play first battle of road to stalingrad 42 (great chapter for MK), i suggest you this work. in the first phase of the first map, i remembered right, it's a take to take positions with your infantries and something other units of suppport. after having cleared the area around the warhouse, where stationed enemy infantries, some entrenched self, and that destroied tank of support in down-left, i musted launch a hurry, so frontal, attack to the too near 'old enemy trench'. i attack with 1 mortorbike and 2 companies of infantry, covered by mortars in the rears. i loosed 1 motorbike, that which smoke in up-left, and i count now 8 soldiers, but most under artillery fire (then, as you can see in minimap, my aircrafts became lords of the skies and some of the nearest enemy artilleries came destroied). hurry up, i changed the guard : the 2 assault companies back to resupplied and i put 1 new full health company towards the trench conquered to take position, mortars in the rear and tank advance to cover. if you don't know if Ai counterattack, i'd strenght the position with an At cannon and a machinegun too, but i knowed the initiative is mine. it's cool play the infantries. (maybe i've should done more screenshoots, and more cool, over a more detailed history of the course of action, but it want be just a parenthesis)

yesterday night i've done a better demo action, and a better shoot. same trench, but now no fallens to report, everybody are safety. i began with mortars covering the light armor car on the right and the machinegun on the centre, which hit the trench supported by the 2 motorbykes fire. the armor car back to resupply meanwhile the infantries finished the work.

Infantry was useful but there were times (in BK, BH, RT and ID expansions)where i felt they were dying so easily, yes i know it's a realistic game and i like realism but still i'd want them not to be killed in masses by artillery (not only by artillery, basically by everything). That's why i was very cautious when i was using them because i didn't want to have them killed in big numbers, as would do a real general in the field So, this factor is more of a personal preference, i didn't like seeing the soldiers die! Later, when i became more experienced with the game i managed to use them effectively to clear towns with the support of tanks etc. Plus, it's the fact that the game sometimes could be played only by using tanks, as ariete mentioned. Anyway, i just love Blitzkrieg and i hope Nival to do a good job and keep supporting PCs. I wouldn't mind seeing a Silent Storm expansion as well!

you say right bloodwork, the assumptions must exist to use infantries otherwise it get out a useless carnage. i'm very cautious too and i don't like loose too troops when i play, and then it's no good for the statistics if it's a chapter. for this reason i like play those missions and chapters who allow you to use a well combined forces, they're much also those of this kind. i would like too play in cbi-pacific theater, for this reason i'm working on a project for gzm about that. i don't know about SPS, here generalhw should say something.

Soon i will be playing some mods so i'd like to try your mod ariete, will your mod run with the anthology version? And yes, maps with combined forces are to my taste too, big or small maps. But i like the more linear maps because all those missions and objectives are inspired by WWII and i feel connected when playing.

i'm not making a mod bloodwork, i'm ugly i don't have the sufficent knowledge, instead soon i'm going to share a work about CBI-Pacific war theater for GZM 7.77.3 so if you want to start to install this conversion, you can also play the azhul chapter of tedi, which is a real challenge for the infantries you'll lead. lots of good work 'about combined forces' exists for kursk-iron frost too. and if you don't have HRA i suggest you to istall absolutely.
then i don't know, maybe we're much off topic here, but it know, we know how a discussion start but not how finish.
