Yeh actually I think hamachi is most stabil option to play BK MP so when somebody will want play MP there wont be problem. But player must write direct IP so he must be in contact with hosting player. Connecting to random games will be inpossible

But player must write direct IP so he must be in contact with hosting player. Connecting to random games will be inpossible AFAIK Hamachi just makes the IP connection for you. I just tossed it out there as a possibility. Hamachi would eliminate one step for playing online, but as I pointed out in my last post, the ability to have a lobby where games are hosted and players can converse while waiting for a game is the issue, not the actual connection.

It seems that most of the forum member's do not understand how BK Multiplayer using the built-in GameSpy option works. Give it a try. Fire up BK and select Multiplayer in the main menu, then hit GameSpy. It will take you straight to the BK lobby of games currently being hosted. If you see a game hosted and you do not have that map, it will automatically download it for you (very slowly- this is one of the bad parts of the GS/BK setup). You will see that the system automatically lists game version and Mod, with the exception of GZM, which will appear as regular BK, because it has replaced the original BK files and is not a mod. The protocol for hosting GZM games is to first always name GZM maps with GZM so people know, and usually the game is organized in the chat lobby and then a password is set to get in that match room , to keep out people running regular BK.
The bad parts of the BK/GS setup are the ultra slow map transfers and also that once you host a game you can no longer chat with those in the lobby. You can only talk to those who enter your room. If you are actually subscribed to GS you can leave (Alt+Tab) the game hosting room and enter the BK lobby through GS and talk to those in the lobby while you wait for players, but you can no longer chat to those who are in the game host room.
The GS/BK setup isn't perfect, but it has worked from the very first day that I got BK better than a decade ago.

The BK Multiplayer community has always been larger than the BK Mod community. Most folks in either community do not know that the other even exists. People like myself and Peep are the rare people who are active in both the Mod and Multiplayer BK crowds. Also: In the remaining time left on the GS server, I think an effort should be made to get as many of the Multiplayers as possible to get an account here- as sort of a lifeboat. IP play does of course work, but with the aggregate knowledge of both communities I think a better solution can be found. I think basically what we need is a lobby/chat labeled Blitzkrieg as a "meeting place" for BK players around the world... While IP method is more "primitive" it is still effective at keeping us in the game... All we need is to weigh our options/possible potential meeting places and agree upon one to make our new home... THEN! We should start spreading the word immediately and start transfering people over to it ASAP. Losing a big bulk of the community is going to be inevitable... We MUST create as many links as possible so our fellow BK players do not stay stranded... Good games all! -iLeeT_PeeP

I think right here is the best place for the BK multiplayers to congregate. Can you imagine how lively this forum would be if you had ~200 people on here like the Gamespy BK lobby does on a decent evening?

Well this place is somewhat a core.
Im not sure if using the shoutbox to post IP's is the best solution avaliable to us...
Also we would have to ask Aleksandar permission if such a thing would be tolerated...
Good games.

Epic Indeed...
OK... UPDATE
Contact with STEAM has been made.
I'm waiting for a reply from NIVAL. This contact was a bit more difficult and I'm not sure it will be directed where it needs to go. But it is a start. NIVAL of course will have BK3 at Steam so it seems logical that this may work. Perhaps, NIVAL will once more support BKI if we can put this together.
I'm curious if any of you guys have used STEAM for MP Play on any other games. I've been a Steam members from the beginning, but my reason was likely different than most of you. I was working on another game platform at the time it when live. But as I stated before, I'm not a 'Multi-Player'. Although I have done BETA in other platforms.
Besides the 200+ number, can anyone advise a number that is a a close approximation of overall BK Multi-players? And may I assume that English is the primary language?

~200 is a pretty good estimate of how many players will be on GS/BK at prime BK time tonight- in a few hours. About ~50 on there right now. I have limited experience on Steam, mostly have the account as it is required for games like TotalWar. You think they could figure out a way to squeeze a few more nickels out of BK by addressing this.
Oh, and language is probably 1/4 German, but most speak English, maybe 1/4 Russian, most do not speak English, 1/4 Asian, some speak English, and the remaining 1/4 are native English speakers.

I have a link active guys... Pointing to blitzsrbija so at least we can salvage a large portion of these fellow BKers. While naturally with such a movement the greater bulk of the community is going to be lost... The more we can salvage the better! You may notice a huge spike in signups... I hope Aleksandar doesnt mind. Good games all! -iLeeT_PeeP

The MOD Community from the players for many games is huge....like Civ5 and even Age of Empires II. Since DLC is permitted by members, you'd think that might open doors for NIVAL and additional DLC, maps, etc.. Most DLC is offered in the Workshops for each Title. I'm sure this is what NIVAL has in mind for BK3. I worked on Rome 2 and that was one of their plans as well. Since STEAM has become a Clearing House for many titles, and also hosts the Player DLC, then it would appear this might be a good match. But of course.... it is too early to speculate on success for this. Cross your fingers... and toes...

It might be a good idea to make a thread with as many search keywords as possible. There will be a lot of people looking for options as they hear of this. Need to have Blitzkrieg, Gamespy, May 31, offline, etc.
