C'mon,Peep,I did not mean to step on your toes. As SJ said, I and others do really have some legitimate issues with installers (from experience) and I thought I should say my bit rather than watch idly by and say nothing. As far as that rash of malware in BK mods a while back, there were a lot of theories floating around about where the source was, most of them centering around a certain vodka drinking gentleman who made himself famous during the BKP days. Other theories were that the malware was in the installer to begin with . As I said, I don't know if anybody conclusively proved the source of that. @ MP: I think the Gamespy logo is located in either the UI textures folder or the UI folder in the patch1or2 .pak Also, Magwaii and myself played an epic 1 1/2 hour long game after you left Openspy. Big map with lots of units. In light of the fact that Magwaii is in France and I am West Coast USA the game was very smooth. There was the usual "Lay mines lag" and stuff like that, but the game operated extremely well for us having ~300 ping. There was one particularly laggy period, but that was due to me launching an insanely huge wave attack late in the game. I suspect that you still have some sort of issue with your Blitzkrieg install, MP. The crash in that test game we did acted like a missing/different resource type of crash.

Thank you Scyooff... that helped alot.I didn't plan to be around much today, but because of the impending issue, I felt compelled to work on this... OpenSpy_Overlay.pak is almost done. I think I have identified all of the GameSpy Files and made the Changes. Once the OpenSpy_Over.pak is ready, I will need a couple of guys to help me test it to make sure we have all of the GameSpy references changed. Note on the Multiplayer Screen, Button has been Changed to OpenSpy Note on the 2nd Screen Top left now reads OpenSpy and the TopRight nows show the OpenSpy Logo, Chat Button says OpenSpy Note on the 3rd Screen same top left and top right.

Ah well shit, I before reading the instructions fully ran binmay thinking it was the one i needed. Well nothing really happened so then i read instructions and figured out which file to run. However I still have gamespy, is it because I screwed up initially? Should I just re install ?

However I still have gamespy, is it because I screwed up initially? Should I just re install ? It sounds like you may have actually reached the Openspy server. Right now there is no way to tell the difference between Gamepsy and Openspy, they are 100% identical in every respect. If the game hosting room you entered is empty, you are probably on Openspy. Check in the chat, I have been in and out of there all day and a couple other guys have been on today. The graphics that MP is working on will change what you see when you switch to Openspy, but for now you will still see the Gamepsy logo in the Openspy chatroom. P.S: I am hosting a game on Openspy right now, so you should see match named "LeaveMessage" when you enter the host room.

BUT, now im getting a "could not connect to selected server" while in lobby I just got that message when I tried to enter chat. I just hosted a game though, and it does appear to be functioning. There are going to be some bugs to be worked out, which is why we are trying to get as many people as possible to try this out now, instead of the day after Gamespy goes down. Speaking of which there are rumors going around that Gamespy might turn off their servers before May 31, so the time to work out this solution is right now. Edit to add: I see that you entered my room, so I think the game hosting room is up. If the chat room stays down I will try to get a message to the Openspy team. They are volunteers and may only have time to work on the server on the weekend, so they might be doing some maintenance. Edit again one minute later: The Openspy chat is back up.

OpenSpy_Overlay_BETA.pak is ready for testing...
Contact me by Email... and I'll forward it to you.
Just place it in your Data Folder.
I'll will also send you the GameSpy_Overlay.pak which will change it back to GameSpy.
The OpenSpy_overlay and GameSpy_Overlay cannot both be in the Data Folder at the same time, so you'll have to move one out to prevent them from conflicting.
Make sure the one you want to use is in the Data Folder and the other is in the Run Folder.
Report any errors here so I can resolve them...
