Yep Blitzkrieg works fine, but wont recognise my Rolling Thunder in "my games" set up. Maybe because I have Anthology..

Someone please post Screenshots with any Multiplayer Menu Changes, if any...
With the Current situation with NIVAL's Code which I have been working on, I'm curious if the Code has been Changed or still says GameSpy.
Also I'm curious if the GameSpy Proprietary Server Option is being used or if this is only an Internet Address.

Hi all, developer of GameRanger here. Really? I didn't see it in their list.. You're looking at the list of Mac games (are you viewing the website on a Mac?) Just click the PC link at the top. ie. www.GameRanger.com/games/pc/Yep Blitzkrieg works fine, but wont recognise my Rolling Thunder in "my games" set up. Maybe because I have Anthology.. I did test the Anthology and GoG Anthology for Blitzkrieg, but it looks like I only tested the GoG Anthology for Rolling Thunder. It was expecting to see "data\maps\multiplayer\flavion_c.dds" which is only in the GoG version. I've changed it now to look for "data\maps\gela_c.dds" instead. This detection is necessary because the game has such a generic .exe name of "game.exe" that would generate a lot of false positives. This change will be in the next update. No patches or changes are needed. The games work as is, unmodified. They use the "GameSpy" mode, not the Internet mode, and are launched directly from GameRanger. The result is actually much, much faster than the old GameSpy system, and also eliminates the problems people had with port-forwarding in the past.

Thanks Scott. Actually, the "c".dds are composite resolution graphics and well over 90% of players only use High Resolution graphics. These will be "h".dds files, usually with a number or alpha-numeric before the 'h'; i.e. 1_h.dds, 1a_h.dds, etc... Anthology cannot use High Resolution without the Anthology Patch and updated config.cfg. Both can be downloaded from my MediaFire Page. www.mediafire.com/download/575k0b8ns88rrw7/Anthology_BH-RT_Texture_Patch.pakwww.mediafire.com/view/jmaypglmk8p6lwu/config.cfgI'm curious how you are capturing the Proprietary Server Option. You state this is launched from inside Game Ranger. I should mention that only the Original Blitzkrieg was designed to use GameSpy. No other Title, (Burning Horizon, Rolling Thunder, or subsequent releases), were given this option by design. I am working with NIVAL to change this, by modifying the Menu Interface Code for each BK Title. Originally, Rolling Thunder did not offer any Multiplayer Play until the RT 1.3 Patch was released, and is now included in Anthology along with Burning Horizon. I don't doubt you can push various titles for MP through your servers but there are inconsistencies between releases of Burning Horizon and Rolling Thunder that may prevent Players from matching. The Original Burning Horizon uses an entirely different game.exe than the Anthology Release. The original Rolling Thunder uses a slightly different game.exe but must be patched to Version 1.2. This information has been generally known within the Community for many years, but may not be known in the Multiplayer Community specifically. Original Blitzkrieg has been the Official GameSpy Multiplayer Title from the start. Everything else could only use either LAN or Internet MP. Just to advise you as to the Interface Code that I have been working on for NIVAL, the new code changes the Proprietary Server Menu Options for Anthology and all earlier releases of Blitzkrieg, as needed and requested by the Community. The Base Interface Code is already written only requiring the Title Code relevant to that Title to be added. The only issue left to resolve is checking the version of the BK Title and Available Maps for that Title. That code is underway and will be submitted to NIVAL for approval before release. The Updated Anthology Game Engine will be modified to 1.3.1, where the latest version is 1.2. Other Blitzkrieg Titles will be upgraded to 1.3.x, with the x being the number in regard to Title Release. Versions 1.2 will not be compatible with 1.3.x due to Interface differences. It may be possible to overcome this issue but the 1.3.x Written Code as it stands now is not backward compatible to 1.2. Thanks for your work on the GameSpy issue. MP

GameRanger just needs the presence (or absence) of any particular file to distinguish between various "game.exe" installs. As long as the other users haven't trashed those "c" files, they will be fine. GameRanger doesn't actually use them for anything. GameRanger has complete control over the game when it's launched, and intercepts all network traffic and DNS requests (in addition to all the DirectX calls). Rolling Thunder does actually support GameSpy just fine, but just doesn't show it in the Multiplayer menu. When it's launched from GameRanger, it jumps directly into the "Create Game" screen (with the Powered by GameSpy logo). If you click X to go back from this screen, you see the "Games: GameSpy" screen. Clicking X again takes you back to the Multiplayer screen, which still only shows Local Area Network and Internet.

No problem. I haven't done any testing of the earlier versions, but I assume most people would already be on the latest version.
What's the deal with Blitzkrieg II? Was it not that popular? I don't really see it being talked about anywhere.

It never reached the success of BKI. While we do have a BKII section the traffic is very low.
Many of new features in BKII didn't gain widespread support, despite both BKI and BKII used the Enigma Game Engine. BKII just raised the bar with Zoom, Rotate and improved Graphics. Most of the die-hard BK I players were more into the tactical options that BKI offered which BKII did not duplicate in the same manner.
Another very big issue for the BKI community is how MODs could be created. 3D models were relatively easy to acquire from model makers, and almost anyone could create 2D objects, (terrain objects, simple objects and buildings). BK I was designed as Open Architecture from day one, BK II was not.
So there were many reasons BKII never grew a significant foothold.

I was about to write a post because i just had the GR update and i saw Blitzkrieg in! But the update was done one week ago and cksteel brought these wonderful news first. I am glad that our beloved game is supported by GR too, i have tried this service with Age of Wonders and it's been a smooth experience. Besides, we also have Major Pain's work on the multiplayer aspect, so more options are always good for all of us. I am just confused about all these different versions of Anthology, GOG, vanilla, expansions and how all players should connect to each other with no problems. But i guess, things will be clear in time.
