What exactly do you mean by this?
Your site limits the players to 50 in a friends game list. If I mistakenly read this to mean the number of Members is limited to 50 for any game before they must
purchase one of the memberships to expand the number of players, then please confirm this.
There are a lot more than 50 Multiplayers out there.
I am aware that your service is free. But you also limit what members can do for the free service.
Silver Membership is $19.95/year
Gold Membership is $39.95/year
The issue is not about your service or which server a player chooses to play multiplayer.
We've been working with NIVAL to resolve the Proprietary Server code that directs the game to Game Spy.
New game purchases and current players must have this patch for the Multiplayer Option Interface. I understand your service does not use this code to log into the server. But the game engine still uses the Interface Code which can potentially send the player to the Multiplayer Option Interface. Once there, the player could be trapped and not able to get back to your server without a fresh restart. The code change only affects the GameSpy code and has nothing to do with your service.
It has been suggested that I slammed your service... No... I don't see that in my statements. This is not about Game Ranger. It is not about my personal desires. I am not a multiplayer, so I really don't have a dog in the race.
What this is about is keeping this community together. This is not about any one person. This is a community forum and for it to function and continue, each member must play by the rules and strive to work together. Most of the veteran members are the guys driving the future with new objects, models, maps and MODS. Their excellent and important contributions to Blitzkrieg has kept the game popular while the community is still growing.
The members that has been working to resolve this issue have consistently aimed toward one goal... Working with the Game Developer
NIVAL INTERACTIVE, for the future of Blitzkrieg 1. This is the proper way to secure a legal course and solution.
In addition, we are negotiating where this game may go in that future. So our work to patch the GameSpy Multiplayer issue has lead to much more than changing the current code for that single game attribute.
Our work also is driven to bringing back as many older Blitzkrieg Titles as possible, which are no longer being published. They use the same Menu Interface Code. The discussions with NIVAL has not been limited to only Original Blitzkrieg and Rolling Thunder. They include all of the Titles.... so you can expect more news and updates to come from this.
I do not object to you coming here and discussing your service. Just do not try to sell it here. And do not downplay what the team has already been able to get done. It is two entirely different issues. The game is still sold at GOG.com, so we are working very hard to make sure new players are able to have options in their game. If they do not have the option for a Proprietary Server, how in the world are they even going to know where the Multiplayer Community is?
The current members can make up their own minds on what they wish to do.
I am more interested in those new players and potential members in our community. My work with NIVAL INTERACTIVE has made it possible to make sure we don't lose them. Since they will not be in a dark hole without the patch... they can decide what they wish to do.
I do appreciate your attention to our situation here. If you will kindly explain or provide a link as to the pricing of your service, then we can all be educated and informed.
Thanks
MP
