Test all you like my friend. I would keep in mind that the sharpest guys in the BK world tested all of this literally ~10 years ago, and their conclusion was that overly large skins do not produce better unit renderings in the game. In Tanks viewer they do, of course, but that is irrelevant. At that time there were hardware and download limitations for most players and extra large skins were a huge burden. Now that has mostly changed, but the way that the BK engine renders screen images is still the same. Look at it this way: A large tank might be rendered ~100 pixels wide in the game. If the skin is 10x that size, the game engine will basically choose one pixel out of 10. This is how the blocky lines and Moire patterns occur. The closer the skin size is to the actual in game screen render size the least amount of unwanted artifacts due to scaling will occur. In my opinion, the best compromise between added detail and unwanted render artifacts is with a 256x skin for all but the very largest units.

Since we are on the subject of skins, I think the long standing issue of the dreaded checkerboard skin displayed when a skin is not available for a particular unit in a certain season (or missing death skin- etc.) would be something to address. If something like a light Olive Drab color could be substituted this would be great, even though a monotone skin lacks a lot of detail, the way the shading is done by the game engine it would look a heck of a lot better than checkerboard.

Wow Wittmann If you are novice at skinning, my hat off to you. Superb job. I started here on the 2nd of August this year. blitzsrbija.proboards.com/thread/1654/wittmanns-haus?page=1And I've learned more than teach others, I myself have been experimenting with different techniques, which have gradually been improving. I've always said that if a labor of is hard, but doing this work with enthusiasm, we turn it on the difficult at situation easy. And of course we are all able only sets us apart from the patience that everyone has. Greetings.

All my works since I started here, my goal has been to create all skins for all seasons and that icluye: 1_h.dds and 2_h.dds. I've had all kinds of comments, that unity does not belong to the historical date, but my aim was to create all * .dds for each of us, could unleash the imagination. blitzsrbija.proboards.com/thread/1654/wittmanns-haus?page=20Greetings.

That is a great idea that many skinners overlook, Wittman. There is still the issue of all of the missing seasonal skins for the original BK units though, so IF the checkerboard can be replaced with a solid color I think it should be done. Years ago there was discussion about this and the consensus at that time was that this was a product of DX9 rendering and could not be changed. That may or may not have been correct, and even if it is there is probably a way to change it.
By the way: I think your skins look fantastic, if not 100% historically accurate in all cases. What I see as an issue is all of the outlining of details that look great in Tanks viewer, but these end up making the dancing black lines and Moire patterns when displayed in the game, especially when units are moving.

On this point, allow me to disagree. Since it before launching our work is reviewed by other teammates, if I pass the test treatment to the image to remove the serration effect, if not 100% sure if that 90% is achieved. You are encouraged you to make the test yourself with original and processed files. I hope you like. blitzsrbija.proboards.com/thread/1654/wittmanns-haus?page=19

I can see these effects in the stills you post, so I know that the black line and Moire patterns (mainly in closely spaced black line areas like vents) will be much worse when in motion. This is a fact. I can see it and I really do not care of others can not.

Not so much fast recovery, just not as ill as usual after they pumped me full of their juice.
Last week I'd swear they were trying to kill me. I was ill for days afterward. It took all weekend just to get my stomach to hold food down. Yuch!
