Do not expect much because I'm on Vanilla. I'm afraid my skills are too limited to make challenging maps. I can use the map editor and can do some scripting but I found out that these are the easiest aspects of making a map.
Creating a scenario and the selection and balancing of units is far more difficult. First I need to figure out what I want the AI to do before I can script it. Secondly I have not enough knowledge of military equipment, or to be more specific, which equipment was used were and when.
Most mappers in this community do a lot of research and study the battles that they want to map. For me this is too time consuming. Now the way I see it I have 2 options: 1) I do not bother about historical accuracy and make a hypothetical map. 2) I take an existing map and rework it hoping that the original mapper had better knowledge of WWII equipment. Another thing is that I'm a bit of a perfectionist. This is a serious handicap because things are hardly ever good enough for me. So instead of having a not so perfect map I often find myself dumping what I already made. This also goes for scripting. A script should not only work but it should also look good. (I think I might need professional help ) Now I have about 4 maps that still need units and scripting. I'll try to finish one of them. Edit: Oh yes, I make these maps with my own mod so I will also have to publish this mod then.

Another screenshot from the testing. This map was the one I discussed in the random map topics, as you can see, is a very complex map now.

Ok boys and girls(?), The Battle of Moscow has a ending map now. Thanks to tedi88 for this very cool, realistic and imersing mission covering the recapture of Klin. The campaign will have 14 maps, not bad after all. More informations soon.

Let's chill out, guys: Well, The Battle of Moscow campaign is almost done. It has 3 chapters, the first with 5 maps focus on the events around Mogilev and Smolensk. As usual, my maps are just inspired in real events cause I done very few research to make these maps. First mission, close to Mogilev, your objective will be ambush a German column, follow of some AI attacks and counter-attacks. Second mission, Dvina Crossing, here you will need to stop one enemy attack, after that the player will have some offensive objectives. Trird mission, close to Smolensk, almost pure defensive mission where the player should to cover the withdraw of soviet troops and citzens running from the Germans, be prepared to face several waves of stukas. Fourth mission, Rogachev, pure offensive, it covers Timoshenko counter-offensive and the retake of one little citty close to Smolensk. A break of several defensive missions. Fifth Mission: escaping the encirclement, that's it: you will need to escape the encirclement by capturing and kwwping one single road untill the end of the mission. A little "arcadish style" map, but I hope it will be fun. In this chapter most maps are from medium to big size (14 to 20) and just one is a square map. Informations about chapter 2 tomorrow.

ok, we are on the right tracks again. Let me show you the 2nd chapter, Yelnia Offensive. Again, medium maps (14-18, it start with a brakethrough mission, I was inspired by tedi88 missions, but I'm not very good with the massive use of units, the outcome is not brilliant, but still... I used a random map here. 2nd mission. Well, this is a classic "capture this village" type. Very simple script, the idea was to make a more "puzzle map", where the challenge is to deal with the placement of AI units. 3rd mission. Pure urban fight, however the script should change in reaction to your priorities. Is possible to liquidate the enemy resistance with one single push, but the cost will be greater, or you can beat the enemy bit by bit. BTW, the original versions of the 2nd and 3rd maps came from LouisXIV chapter "In the track of the panzers". Credits to all are in the UI text of the campaign.

Well, the moscow chapter is the best in the opinion of the developers (Tedi88 and I), it starts with 3 defensive maps, with lots of random scripts, and it's finished with 2 pure offensive maps. In this chapter is also possible to have some crashes beacause I abused in the random scripts, so save the maps as most often posible. The first mission is about Vyazma, you will must defend a little village againt sevaral attacks. In the end of the mission you will be able to chose withdraw or keep your positions untill the end. Map two, Kashira, this is a new version of one old map (from may chapter "The Blodiest Winter"), another deffensive map with some counter-attacks. The concept, BTW, is the same of the original map made to PZWF. l Map 3, Volokoamsk Higway, In one of my few experiences with "Men of War" game I was very impressed with a mission about this battle. I tried to duplicate the concept and, IMO, this is one of my best maps. You will face several waves of enemy tanks but, once the script is completly randomic, every time you play the mission the experience will be different. The 4th mission is totally offensive. Here the inspiration was one of ecan maps in his Stalingrad chapter. The player will need to brake the enemy lines and will have 1 hour to make this. After taht, you will some classic objectives to accomplish. The 5th mission is a classic tedi88 map. Massive, big and epic. Once my missions last 1 to 3 hours, in my experience this mission lasted 8 hours... So, be ready to a very long final mission. That's all, folks. check this topic next friday...
