Maybe it's the psychological effect of feeling too much pressure within time limited maps. Not only in BK, but also in other games, I never liked it. Some players, especially in BK, indeed like to go slow.
I have also tried AI surrenders, but it didn't always turn out to be ok. When entrenched or in houses, units/humans do not always change side when using ChangePlayer or don't change color when in houses. I guess I haven't found the correct method yet to do this, but yes, it is more realistic.
The continuous attack on zones doesn't have to be hard if only a few enemy units are used, like 2 or 3 squads and 2 or 3 tanks.
So, what do we expect:
- a good story
- no unit overload
- AI soldiers surrendering

Could not have said it better Kaoz. Add in challenging terrain features also(swamps, impassible areas), but enough room on the map to approach objectives from different angles. No timed missions to complete an objective. I don't mind missions that tell me I have 15 min to prepare for a counterattack after taking an objective.
One other thing is losing the "You Lost" crap, if I lose an objective due to a counterattack-it happens, but I always will try to retake what I lost. Hated that "you lost". War is fluid and the maps should reflect this.

I think we are all on the same page here. In real life most of us need to deal with time limits and deadlines so why cause more stress with introducing time limits in the game ? However time could play a role in the scenario of a map and even add to the realism of the game. eg the slower the player advances the more the AI can organize a defence line, lay a minefield or gets reinforcements.
Should you guys come across maps that have an interesting gameplay or features that can be shared as a good example the please post it here. We can only learn from it.

First map to mind Q is the Stanenberg Kursk 5 map for MK. The first objective was timed-but it was possible to complete it and timed fairly. The use of terrain features was excellent( I now hate sunflowers). The counterattacks, were well done and although I failed to hold some of the objectives at various times, I retook them after the dust settled. No "You Lost" crap as earlier maps(first generation) might do to you. This was a 5 star effort, a must play.
A solid example of matching objectives to the fluid nature of war.
