Yesterday i installed my beloved BK in order to play mission Barbarossa and my relatively newly installed Windows 7 refused to run it.
At first i got into vanilla with the units moving too fast, later my units stood still, after i installed patch 1.2 all i get is a black screen or the BK logo and a black screen. I can hear the music though.
I tried disabling one core manually, i installed the dual core fix, the problem persists. After these, i installed Barbarossa in case it works but nothing there too.
I searched for possible solutions but nothing worked. Do i have to give up hope or is there something i can try?

You had to install patch 1.2? What version are you using?
The normal BK version comes with 1.2 installed

Although i own the Anthology version which worked with my previous pc configuration (the only change being Windows 7 now instead of Windows XP and an addition of RAM that i did), i used an old copy, i think version 1.0.0.3, because i didn't want to install all expansions that i think the Anthology version would force me to.
It's an old pc with WIN 7 32bit SP1, 4 GB of RAM of which 3,3 recognized (due to the 32bit), an AMD Athlon X2 2000 MHz 3800+, an Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT. All drivers are fresh, i formatted my pc 6 months ago.
I forgot to mention that i tried all compatibility settings, one by one, the result was always the same. As i exit with alt-tab i always see the message "the game.exe stopped working".
I used the Anthology from 2010 onwards and the copy from 2003 to maybe after an upgrade in 2007 and Windows 2000 and XP were ok with the game. A simple disabling of one core would work.
Maybe the patch and the crack are not combatible. I don't remember if i used the patch in the old days. Maybe i have to use my legal copy and try from there. Any thoughts are welcome, thank you for your responses.

Did you try the dual core patch. You can find at Major Pain mediafire site (Look up Major Pain and in his signature you find a link). Go there to the map Blitzkrieg Utility programma's.

Yes, i did try it and it asked me to restore my previous .exe if it didn't work. I answered no and it restored it. I think i will uninstall everything and try the Anthology or a clean Anthology dvd with no drm as a member here suggested. I will update if i find a solution in case someone else needs future help.

It worked fine in the past, it's the vanilla version and before i install the patch, it worked, i entered the first mission normally. I know sketchy cds are not to be always trusted but this is not the case.

Hello guys, at last, i run BK and Barbarossa with no problems. I used my Anthology dvd and it worked. I just had to disable one core and now i will install the dual core patch so it can be done automatically every time. The vanilla version's .exe obviously didn't get along with the 1.2 patch. Quintaxel, i already stated that i used the dual core patch but the black screen persisted.
I am quite sure now that in 2003 i completed the game unpatched because the copy worked fine then too. I noticed some things in game but i will make a separate post in the appropriate section. Thank you all for trying to help, cheers!
