Hello i have the original 773 installer do you want that i upload it? Sorry to hear the SP maps do not work like the MP maps We should create a Exel list of compatible maps and convert the list as pdf. I dont believe that the mod creators will do offer mutch support longfellow
Another Question longfellow if you talk about CTD's you mean CTD's occur at loading the map OR just random while playing the map?

CTDs during gameplay (as opposed to during loading) can still occur because of different versions!

Sure maybe a unit or Object (missing or changed) will be called in later in the mission as reinforcement the game will not crash before this moment happen but otherwise it should not happen because of the version
5 from 10 maps in a Chapter can work for example a detailed research and testing is needed if a map crash (besides gzm mod instability)

I have 7.77.3 and every map that I have in the link works with version 7.77.3 perfectly so no I don't need the installer..the problem I am having is that some of these maps won't work with version 9...these are the maps marked NO in the upload...
CTD's I have experienced have been the failure of the map to load....I never get to actually playing the map...
I like your idea and all the maps except those marked NO can be put in a PDF as compatible with GZM 9

CTDs during gameplay (as opposed to during loading) can still occur because of different versions! The crashes are at the loading part of the map.....every map marked NO in the upload will not even load.....there were more but I updated the modobjects file and then some worked....

Playing the Oktjabrskiy (Prokhorovka) mission now... now that's a defence mission done right! Big map, lots of fronts, you don't lose automatically when an objective is overrun, but must re-take it instead, and you have a ton of units so when you lose a bunch of them to artillery you don't feel like immediately loading a save. Wow this is really is a beast of a map. Probably nowhere near hard enough for some of you veterans out there, but definitely a challenge for me. Does anyone know who made it? If somebody has another recommendation from that set of maps, I'm happy to hear it! |

So What Longfellow said in the post above, and the chapter is called "Oktjabrskiy". |

After spending 4-5 hours on GZM 9 I decided that IMHO GZM9 is nothing more than a click fest for the developers website..no support just new version with no regard for previous missions....they want you to use the new version but offer no assistance in getting the current maps to work with them...waste of band width downloading maps if they won't work....so I trash GZM 9 and work with what I have....a perfectly good copy of 7.77.3......50 maps working fine...

- What are the best chapters campaings? I only know the name of Blue Division
- All the maps/chapters you have are original downloads? Or modified versions of the originals (translation, bugfix)? Example name: [GZM9.2Ch]Oktjabrskiy_v1(correct)_ENG

Actually I count 46 excellent custom maps made by the community in my link and all these work with 7.77.3...to that add the twenty/thirty or so maps that come with install of 7.77.3 plus a whole bunch of maps/missions included in the campaigns and I see no point in wasting time wrestling with different versions that are only put out there IMHO for show and only a certain few are privileged with the inner workings of the mod and won't support the community as a whole... so i junk my copies of version 9 and have fun playing 5 or 6 excellent campaigns, a dozen great chapters and myriads of custom and developer created scenarios that actually work and I don't have to worry about my box crashing every 15 or twenty minutes......
Check the links in the forum for version 7 downloads and upgrade patches and you will get a perfectly good copy of the working mod...but you must have it as you offered to upload the installer in a message earlier in this thread (my old friend Scyooff had some great ones ...if they are still there) and that is another annoying thing...as soon as a new version comes out it is almost impossible in certain cases to get the original files as the are substituted with the new version forcing a person to use the most recent version...

I would like to add that certain members have put an extreme amount of hard work into designing custom maps for GZM as a whole....absolutely outstanding work (mapping scripting has always amazed me) and it's such a shame to see that go to waste just because of a "" new"" version....they are either forced to redo the maps to work or forget about them....when you see some of the phenomenal maps made for this mod it saddens me to see them go by the wayside....even one person made an entire new mod for version 7......and before anyone says it works with version 9 send me your copy!!
[BMG]Neutro In answer to you third point all the maps for Campaigns, Chapters and Missions I have are custom made and either translated by myself or other members...I have some maps from the campaigns that I made in to scenarios and translated myself...check the link |

I agree with you many things in GZM could benefit from a little more quality control and a little less quantity over quality. Overall, I still think GZM 9 is a big improvement though, many of the old missions have received a rework and the amount of missions (now with the Finnish, Hungarian and Japanese Campaigns) overall is simply staggering. Luckily, it is entirely possible to have two parallel installations of GZM 7 and 9, it's not an ideal solution but better than nothing. I will say that some of the maps you have marked with "NO" are available in the GZM9 campaign, for example Stalinline. Many of the custom missions you have uploaded are included with GZM9, such as the WORS missions, Berlin Reichstag, Budapest, and many more. |
