Hi mappers,
In my present Gela project I wanted to delay the time between calling air support and have it on the map. The planes have to come all the way from Tunesia airfields so between give the order and have them arrive above the battlefield should be a delay.
To get this done I needed a negative appear point. With the map-editor this can't be done. Hence, you needed to save file as XML and then find AppearPoints. The first thing you will see is that the numbers you had give into map-editor are not there. The map-editor works with VIS-points while in XML script points are given as script points. Have found the AppearPoints you can now edit in a negative number. -320 = -5, -3200 = -50, -32000=-500. All work, but only the latter give a real delay.
<AppearPoints><item x="9024" y="-32000" z="0"/></AppearPoints>

Will this impact the time the airplanes spend on target?
I've noticed that on bigger maps recon, fighters and attackers sometimes spend no time at all at the target site if they need to cover a large distance to get there.

hi olvie , Yes, the time travel has impact on the time above the battlefield. I had fast fighter which appear after about 1 minute and stayed on patrol for around 2 minutes. A very slow recon plane (Gruman Duck) was only after almost 2 minutes on the map. Got just to its patrol area made one round and then was going home again. So distance and speed of the airplane are two factor to consider here. I like as this also adds some realism in that if planes have airfield far from the battlefield, time on the battleflied is limited. Furthermore, the appear point in my example 9024 is not were they (always) appear on the map. If you select an area more to east then the planes appear east of the appear point while if you select an area west on the map then the planes appear/disappear more to west.
