Announcing a new Mod designed specifically for Blitzkrieg Online Multiplayer!Missione AfricaThis Mod consists of a collection of new units made by the Blitzkrieg Mod community centered around the struggle for control of North Africa between Italy and Great Britain before the arrival of the Germans and Americans. A completely new and complete set of "Acks" (in game voices) for the Italians, recorded by Folgore and compiled by myself adds a fresh sonic experience to Blitzkrieg. All Blitzkrieg Multiplayer Gamers know that having a distinct audio cue for each unit is essential for discerning what units you have selected during the chaos of Multiplayer gaming. No longer when clicking an Italian Unit will you hear German or nothing, but a new and unique Italian response! Along with introducing a complete roster of units for true equal-strength Multiplayer maps, the Mod also changes some gameplay parameters, mostly increasing the range of Artillery and other weapons. This allows for making more realistic larger maps that reflect the wide open spaces of the African battlefields with broad sweeping flank and encirclement maneuvers characteristic of the tactics employed there. To help facilitate making these larger maps, new flora has been introduced, allowing the use of "Spring" Fields in the Map Editor to create a richer look for maps. Forget about the old boring all sand "Africa" look of "Vanilla Blitzkrieg". By using the "Spring" fields in the Map Editor, you can quickly create rich landscapes featuring scrub and cactus instead of sand, the same 5 rocks, and 1,000 Palm trees. The Italian 75/18 now has indirect fire capability: Here is the Aircraft lineup for Missione Africa : Multiplayer So prepare for your next mission: Missione Africa!

More pics showing the roster of units for Missione Africa. Italy now has a complete Infantry selection Complete Italian roster of Units: The Maintenance Shop is still busy painting these vehicles, but it is starting to look like an army instead of a circus troupe.

Great video Folgore. I love the truck shots in the beginning- Lancia, Breda 32, etc. Are those BA-88's @ around 4:12?

I see. The BA 88 is curvy and the Fiat is is squarish. I have the flora look worked out pretty well now. This screen shows scenary nearly entirely made by using a Field. I have replaced many objects painted by the Spring set of Fields, so that they have arid flora. The terrain already looked good using Spring Fields in Africa map. I made a creosote bush and some flowering cacti today to add. Check out the new look for the mini map - looks more like a shaded topo. Avanti!Agguato !

Nice screenshots! If it can help, the East Africa Mod made by leon has some nice objects and flora. There is no copyright problem, on the contrary leon would have been happy to see them used.

The two cholla cactus and a few other things are from EA. A couple years ago when Leon started EA, him and I were bouncing ideas off of eachother, as I was attempting an earlier version of what has become Missione Africa. He was a great scripter and all around problem solver for th BK Mod community, and is sorely missed. There are more nice cactus in EA, but they really don't fit into a true North African landscape (two Sagauro cactus for instance- they only grow here in Arizona) . The rest of the cactus and scrub I made by repainting existing foliage from BK, mostly winter bushes.

I am changing the British scout plane to this Hawker Hartbee, also from Leon's EA Mod. Not sure who the modeler is on this one, no clues in the .xml, but it sure is a good one. This is a great looking plane, and uses a different model than the Vildebeest and Ro-37.

Another new feature for Missione Africa is that smaller caliber weapons can attack targets with thick armor. They just cause extremely small amounts of damage. So a 20 mm cannon might not penetrate a Crusaders front armor on the first hit, but the gun will engage and crack away at a target and will eventually cause damage. The effects (hard to catch in a screen shot) of lots of small caliber shells dancing on and around a tank in the game is pretty cool. This way, guns that supposedly "won't penetrate" a targets armor, will still fire away at it causing very small amounts of damage . In reality, even a .50 cal machine gun will eventually do some serious damage to a light tank at close range, and so it now is in BK! This eliminates the absurd situations where units just sit there and get killed while doing nothing because the enemies' armor is "not penetratable". This way units at least go down fighting. Adjusting and balancing the weapons is mainly what has been delaying a demo for this, but I pretty much have it finished now, on to the Multiplayer unit test phase SOON! So if your interested in trying Missione Africa out, let me know here or in a p.m. and I will make download available. It is real small- for a mod, at less than 50 megs.

Good idea the one about small caliber weapons, it adds a bit of realism! I'm definitively interested in this mod

It really looks fresh.
Is that flora creating pathfinding problems?

The flora isn't causing pathfinding problems, most of what I am using can be run over by tanks and some even by trucks. I did have some pathfinding issues this weekend though, because so many of the Africa terrains have "No Wheels" passability. The "Spring" field generators use some of these non- passable terrains in their mix causing areas to be non - passable. I fixed this by changing the passability of some terrain sets to allows wheels, so all is now functioning fine as far as that goes.

Just finished a completely new skin for Dunkels 3.7 inch AA. The Italian roster is about 95% complete, the British one maybe 80% now.
