It shows the place where the missions are happening, if you check my chapters you will see I allways give "0" values to all the placeholders because I dont use mini chapter maps (just an image). Yeah, i had this feeling, so i gave the placeholders the same value as the "map positions" in the mission lines.

Why not trying this tutorial once posted at BKP and now posted again by wespex at BKHQ?

Okay, I've got a chapter that plays the first mission quite well, but will not continue on to the next mission. I have checked the chapter 1.xml; I have checked the chapter script; I have checked the mission 1.xml. All references to folder names and file names were copied directly from the folder or file, so there is no chance of them being wrong. I've double-checked anyway.
The chapter goes to the second mission screen, but the description and objectives are blank. It obviously can't find something!
What is the major cause of a chapter not finding the second mission?

Welcome to my world!!! And it drives you nuts, doesn't it?
In another topic, cc_commander was explaining that using the SetIGlobalVar could cause this and you'd have to reset them in the following script. Unfortunately, my 1st map hasn't used a global variable, so there's still other things causing this.

Problem solved by CC_Commander. It seems the reference to the national folder USSR in the chapter 1.xml was upper case, which didn't wash. It had to be lower case.
I guess the lesson is all the folder names should be all lower case, just in "case."

omg, i've changed all upper cases into small ones and guess what... chapter works!!!
thx LouisXIV and Commander!
copied the following to this topic b/c of its importance:
If the Map works as a single Mission and in the Chapter not (you win) you must Clear the Variable at start of the Map. Example:
function Clearvar() SetIGlobalVar("GameObjective1", 0); SetIGlobalVar("GameObjective2", 0); SetIGlobalVar("GameObjective3", 0); Suicide(); end;
function Init() RunScript( "Clearvar", 1000); end;

i've changed all upper cases into small ones and guess what... chapter works!!! Oh, yes! I've gone back to some older chapters that I could never get to work and replaced all the upper case letters in them, plus clearing the objective variables, and some of them are working! I love it! I've got about 5 chapters working now; I just have to get the individual missions working the way they should.
Next step: campaigns!
Pardon me if I posted this somewhere else, but I can't seem to find it, and I'm sure I posted it here:
Can anyone tell me how to convert a map from any common format into the three-level .dds format that the chapters seem to require? I seem to recall it involves making your map into .tga format, which is no problem for me. However I can't seem to get the ResEd to recognize it consistently or export it properly, and I would like to skip using the ResEd if I can.

You must have the .dds plugin. Email me your image and I'll be glad to convert it for you to .dds.

using the ResEditor isn't that bad; it will make a dds from your tga (chapter) map. you can easily select the missions, set the map pointers as well and export the 1.xml. after all you can still alter the files for slight changes later.
@mp: godspeed on that chapter!

Four chapters in two weeks. I finally feel like I'm accomplishing something worthwhile. 8-)I'm not doing any single missions again. :DThanks for your help, bb, kaoz and Folgore!
