I'm finishing off a new single player mission and have forgotten how to edit the 1.xml to put in the objectives X and Y co-ordinates. I seem to remeber that there was a way to do it in Photoshop? I can't seem to get the tga file to display the co-ordinates anymore. I know I've done it before, without having to use the Res editor. Can anyone remind me.

I'm not sure if this is a help, but I'll try.
The X and Y coordinates for the objectives go from 0 to 512. 0,0 is at the top left of the map, and X goes across and Y goes down.
I just look at the mission map and divide it into five bands (0-100, 101-200, etc.) across and down. Then I look at the location of an objective and estimate its coordinates. Then I put the map together and run it and see how close I've come, and make adjustments if necessary.
With practice, you can get it so you can get the arrows to show up spot-on with only one adjustment, sometimes not even that. It sure beats fiddling around with that infuriating ResEd.
The way I see it the objective arrows shouldn't be exact anyway, especially if you're trying to indicate something like the location of an enemy group or a exit location.
It's good to see you're working on something, Al. I was afraid you'd left us.

Thanks, I'll remember that. I figured out how I used to do it. Open the large .tga in Photoshop and view the info screen. It shows the tga with the 512 x 512 co-ordinates. Your cursor can then give you accuracy almost to the pixel.
It's good to be back. A change of job and other hassles (life in general) has kept me away. I've not even had the chance to keep with the posts for a couple of months. I'll need to do a lot of reading over the next couple of days.

The way I do it is: 1.Create a minimap of the map in the map editor. 2.Open the created "mapname_large.tga" file in Photoshop. 3.Use the function "Save copy as", and select the BMP format. 4.Open the "mapname_large copy.bmp" file in MS Paint. Move the pencil to various points on the map. The coordinates in pixels will be displayed in a panel in the lower right of the program window. These are the ones that go in the mission 1.xml for objective pointers. May seem complex, but its very simple and easy to do, and assigning coordinates is a breeze.

If you mean creating a "map" as in a BK mission, see my mapping guide for importaint explanations and tips. For a script, build and customize a script generated in the LUA Script Builder. To build a mission, you may need Photoshop for the method I described above to place the objective pointers. But you can just as easily use the infamous, free software GIMP.

Best of luck. Greatest factor is motivation in these things. Second is time.
