1) Use a clean and new installation of BK; 2) Put the GZM stuff into; 3) DO NOT ADD anything else into that installation. If possible, don't make that installation in C: (especially if you use Vista)

Start up BK if you installed GZM correctly you get a new main menu. In right bottom corner the version of GZM mod is given.
To start: chose new game/campaign German, Russian or Allied

First tip: if you have win 7.0 do not install bk and any of its mods in "program files" folder.
Check the date of your file "back-mainmenu_h.dds" in the intermission texture folder to see if the date of your gzm file is later than you original file. It should be, but who knowa?

Update on the mod: new maps and updates to the mod are slowly progressing. At the same time, development seems to have started on an USSR vs Allies 1950s themed conflict. There were plans a few months back for a hypothetical Eastern Front scenario where the war dragged on for several years later than it did historically, so the battles on the Axis soil are being fought in 1946-48, with many of the planned German/USSR late-war projects either in production or in prototype phases. The stance of the Allies in this conflict was unclear, but I don't think they assumed an anti-USSR role; separate peace perhaps? Anyways, not sure how/if those 2 will play together, but it'll definitely be a late-40s/early 50s conflict, and it already seems to have pretty good progress unitwise. Next version of the mod is, at this point, slated for release in early October.

Is it a T-55?
It looks like a T-34/85 turret in a T-55 Basis

@kevin: its a T-54, one of the earlier variants (the later ones then flowed into the T-55 in the mid-1950s).
