Battles for Rosoch, 1942: Battle outside Stalingrad, 1942: Stalingrad Battle (Northern Section of city): Mission starts with a long, massive German air raid, fleeing civilians, and city being destroyed. A masterful job with the script! The mission itself, though, is hard as hell. The fact that its long isn't bad, though, as its very exciting, historic, and tense!! You really feel the complete supermacy of the Wehrmacht in the hills and fields surrounding the city. When the battle reaches the city itself, however, it is a different story: The battle for the Grain elevator sets in: Notorious (perhaps too much so for the Stukas) German GAP aircraft over the outskirts:

The counteroffensive begins: a random map outside Stalingrad. BM-13s in action: "Steel Avalanche": A familiar mission from BK, but intensely redone. Still, a better historical map could be found... Note the Il-2 with the small antitank bomblets: Operation Mars gone awry: an excellent mission, never played it before. A dead Tiger: And another:

Kursk, 1943 random map The only problem with these maps is the sometimes overloaded amount of enemy units, which sometimes makes for a ridiculous AI unit use (history goes down the drain), and at others-imposibly difficult defensive missions. Overall, though, the random maps are great, and are definetly better than original BK ones. Unfortunately, this chapter's historical map is orignal from BK as well. This chapter and Uranus need some serious reworking. In this case I am forced to carpet the armor-filled village with A-19s. A familiar map by Dmitry M. One of the worse ones: not only overused, but also overloaded with units. Still, a few nice enemy counterattacks added: Another random map, this one is much better: Korsun Pocket this is a nice chapter, though the first maps had some balancing issues and bugs before the recent patch: Payback: last chapter mission is a meat grinder; perhaps not too historical, but tense nontheless: results Another quite decent 1944 random mission: Sevastopol, 1944. Unfortunately, another old, overloaded map, though with a few new moments: Hit!! Liberation of Belarus: A familiar map by Leon, nicely reworked. Yet this chapter painfully needs some new/better maps, as it was one of the greatest Soviet operations of the war.

Some interesting screen shots, thanks, Ocelo. I particularly appreciate your comments on the quality of the maps. Having worked my way through the German language version of Grey Tigers without really understanding what my objectives were, I appreciate getting an English version of any interesting campaign.
I think you have put too many screenshots in each post. My display flashes up and down them when I try to navigate through them.
I have taken the liberty of removing some of the ImageShack advertising.

I have taken the liberty of removing some of the ImageShack advertising. Really? I didn't see any after I posted; thanks. Screens in posts: you mean to have just more posts so a page is added sooner?

When you use ImageShack and post a forum-style url, it adds on a little "Uploaded with ImageShack.us" tag right at the end, with the ImageShack.us being a link to their main site. Probably no one else even notices it, but I find any kind of gratuitous advertising annoying. It smacks too much of desperation on the part of the company.
When I load a web site with lots of pictures, it jerks a lot as each picture loads. This is not a problem, because I expect that. The strange thing is that, in this thread, after all your screenshots/pictures have loaded, it still jerks back and forth when I try to navigate up and down. Not sure why. This is the only place I've noticed that happening.

Hmm, probably some issue with the large number of pictures on one topic page, or perhaps its too long. Final screens to come tomorrow.

Advance on Budapest: in the Carpatians Crushing enemy positions with a Br-5 280mm heavy mortar: Well-known Soviet chapter by Dmitry M. beautifully reworked: Air battle over Konigsberg: Secret weapons of the Reich in action: Map is nice, but it is alone; luckily, Simeo is working on a new Konigsberg map, complete with historical, realistic forts. FW-190s are less lucky: Closing in for the kill: the map is overloaded with aviation and artillery in favor of the player. A few counterattacks, though, ensure that your units see some action too. But the enemy is dangerous when he is alive. Advances toward the Reich via Poland: Large maps fit the mod well. Defending a bridgehead: HERO: [actually, he had the support of all the other JS-2s and TDs behind him. But still an excellent unit. On the advance, but the bombardment was generous. Only a few troops to mop up. Artillery is too accurate IMO on the higher ranks, and bunkers are too weak; they don't stand a chance. Attacking the rear areas of the enemy: Tank Battle for Lauban: although a bit oversized and hence slow, this is an awesome map. Does remind one though that BK is fully capable of keeping up with both the new PCs and the new games: Trucks are a bit overloaded... Main force: Fighting in the middle of the city: While not abundant, enemy units are very effectively and realistically placed, which makes this map fun, challenging, and rewarding: Wish I had some better screens... Last charge to take the airfield from the SS defenders: Next up: Berlin HURAAAH!!
