Hi all.
My ResEditor will not work. When I click on the icon it does nothing. So I re installed bk (twice now) and still nothing. Could Vista be the problem? I was using ResEd until very recently with no problems and cant think of anything that would cause this. I have several mods installed but they all work fine in bk and the map editor. Any ideas would be apreciated.

How many versions of BK do you have on that machine?
and...
What folders are they in?
Many times if you have Blitzkrieg in the Programs Files Folder or the Program Files (x86) Folder, then have another version of Blitzkrieg anywhere else, the ResEditor will not run because the path is not clear. ResEditor does not run from the folder but the path stored in the Win Registry. So two or more copies of ResEditor, and sometimes the Map Editor will create a conflict in the path.
This has been an issue on Anthology since the ResEditor and MapEditor are in both Blitzkrieg and BH-RT. I really urge people to install Blitzkrieg Anthology in C:\Blitzkrieg Anthology and not the Installers Default Folder, i.e. Program Files.
I am working on this same issue with Blitzkrieg Anthology on STEAM. We're getting black screens after the movies on start up. I'm pretty sure this is due to the STEAM Installer registering with the WinRegistry twice.

Vista could be the problem. Fortunately I have no experience with VISTA Just an idea. Maybe you could give this a try.

Major Pain - only bk installed right now + a few mods. Installed to C:\Program Files\Nival Interactive\Blitzkrieg. I did take a look at the registry and I think you lead me to the problem, I see a few links to Burning horizon still there, And I was using the BH reseditor before I removed BH. but i'm not sure what to do about them.
Quintaxel - Thanks for that but already tried it. Yeah vista, you ARE lucky! I often wish I still had XP. Cheers.

This is a trick I use with the boxed copy of BK anthology (it also works with Panzerkrieg) 1) Install Revo Uninstaller (free version) 2) Install BK Anthology using the installer. 3) Copy the whole BK directory to a new folder on you HDD (or another medium like an external USB HDD or pendrive) 4) Uninstall BK Anthology using the ‘ Revo Uninstaller’. This to make sure that all registry entries are removed. It works with,....euh that thing called Vista. You should now be able to run BK, including the map editor and res editor, from the pendrive. I tried this on a Win 7 x64 and Win7 x32. Very convinient, a portable version of BK. Now I’m not claiming that this method will make BK fully portable in the sense that there will be no entries made in the registry once you run BK. I suspect Windows will still make some entries in the registry but it will not clutter the registry file with unnecessary entries. There is no risk in trying this. If it doesn't work it will at least remove the entries BK made in the registry.

You never cease to amaze me Quin... you are exactly correct on almost everything you said. Except... if you do the uninstall and remove Bk from the Win Registry... then run BK in another HDD or External Drive... Windows does not collect the game.exe or editor data for the Registry.
This is very important for players who like to load MODS. Do not install Blitzkrieg in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders. This is exactly where all registry data is collected. If you install Blitzkrieg in C:\Blitzkrieg Anthology (example) or any other drive letter (D, E, F, etc...) you will have no issues with the Registry and can run the MapEditor from any Folder and it will read the associated files in that setup. Even if it does not read directly from those files, which sometimes happens if you load two different instances of the mapeditor during a session, you can still browse to where you want to go.
So what is a session? Anything between restarts. Despite avoiding the Registry, you still have to deal with that thing called the STACK. Simply ending a program does not clear the stack. The stack keeps track of STUFF for your RAM...
nuff said.
