A pak file is no different than a zip file but instead of the extension .zip has been replace with the extension *.pak. Think of a zip file as a container in which a folder structure and files can be stored. The files in the container are 'deflated' so their size is smaller. To create a *.zip container or to extract files from the the zip file you need software. I recommend 7-ZIP www.7-zip.org/download.html It's free and quite powerful. If you have 7-Zip installed then it will automatically recognize zip files. If you then click on a zip file it will open and show the contents of the zip file. Similar to Windows explorer you can drag and drop files from the zip file to a folder or the other way around, from a folder into the zip file. The only thing is that 7-zip does not recognize the pak extection. Therefore you should select a pak file, Right-click and 'select open with 7-Zip file manager. Tick the option "Always use this app to open pak files". Let me know if I can help.

Playing campaigns in GZM 9 1. Launch campaigns for the USSR and the Allies through the campaign selection menu in the game, as before. 2. To launch campaigns for Germany, Hungary, Italy or Finland, select the “Campaigns of the Axis Countries” in the campaign selection menu and in the first mission choose one of the four campaigns. ATTENTION: To select the appropriate set of surnames of personnel and ranks of the country for which you intend to play, you must activate the corresponding set of four in the folder X: \ Games \ GZM9 \ Data : GZM_V9_00_German_names.pak (activated by default) GZM_V9_00_Finnish_names_pak GZM_V9_00_Hungarian_names_pak GZM_V9_00_Italian_names_pak • To activate, replace the underscore with a dot in the file name: _pak with .pak • To deactivate, vice versa. • Only one of the sets must be active. 3. To start the campaign for Japan, you need to go to the menu for selecting additional chapters. There will be a corresponding item. Thanks to Grot for sharing this info.

Good question atlas555Each update includes all supersedes the previous version. Rev. 4 replaces Rev. 3 So you only need the last version and can remove the previous one. We'll try to publish frequent updates in chronological order the missions are played in the campaigns.

Clever, so, GZM kind of copied my method then although I did get the idea from Mission Kursk so, really we both copied Adrian. "Copying is the highest form of compliment", right

Quintaxel : when the Translation is complete i will compile all single .pakfiles into one file! Thanks, Mat this is the intention. I was planning on keeping 2 language paks. One for the GUI and one for the scenario's. So far I have only seen GZM 9 under the hood. Already found about 2 GB of obsolete weight. There are a number of challenges in this translation process. Besides translating the txt files of the chapters and missions it' also necessary to translate the Lua files. Should not be a big deal, at least that is what I thought. In general Lua files include just a couple of lines to translate (DisplayTrace function). So far I had to go though Lua files that have over 6.000 lines of script with a lots of stuff to translate. I sometimes get distracted by the script. Lua does this to me Figuring out the campaign structure is also a tedious job. (I just increases the already great respect I have for the community members hat created all this great content for us to enjoy.) Also file dates of the translated files need to be changed so they overwrite the current files in Russian. Some files of GZM 9 have a time-stamp in the future ! This translation keeps me away from the things I love about BK. Playing and scripting. It will take quite some time before everything is translated.

Maybe set the Date on the PC on a future time too when working with this files? im not sure you know that already, but if not it will save you a lot of time:
1.) use notepad++ with this files (no matter if xml, lua or txt)
2.) install xml tools plugin 3.) open all original files together in notepad 3.1: Plugins-XML Tools-Linarize xml (works with all files) (mark "apply to all open files") 3.2: Plugins-XML Tools-Pretty Print (xml only - with line breaks) 4.) Batch save all files
like this you can read and work easier, faster and you can save all files with one timestamp. (maybe theres an option in notepad to change time and date for processing idk)
also the search and replace function is gold worth

Mat, thanks for the hint for using the xml tool plugin in Notepad++. I'm a big fan of Notepad++ So far I did not have the xml plugin istalled but I will. However for setting the date stamp of files I use 'NewFileTime", a portable utility dedicated to changing time stamps of files. www.softwareok.com/?seite=Microsoft/NewFileTimeSetting the date stamp in the future may cause issues when installing additional pak files in the future. For some files I will have to set the date even further in the future then is already the case, but would do this when there's no other option.

you´re right. the game engine is reading always the newest files (no matter if dds, mod, xml,txt...) out of pakfiles. if i wanna replace a texture in a new patch-pak this will not work if the "new" files were saved earlier than the "old" ones.

Thank you Grot.
What exactly is the lua script? What is the difference between bzm and lua?
Thanks for any response.
