hi, i want to go back to a topic thread. where i told that i had problems with my computer fan. Its making a strange noise (still) and i dont trust it. But i think i must put some oil or something in it so it whould be fatty again. Is this a good idea or do i blow up my computer with it? i hope you understand what i mean
greetings,

If your going to bother taking your computer apart, why not replace it? Take one from an old computer, or spend $5 and get a new one. Squirting oil into your computer sounds a little risky to me.

My fan produced strange noise too.
The problems was with screws. They were... flimsy...

I have 3 "main" fans on this old computer i use for BK. All of them salvaged from other PCs for $0. Two of them blow out and one blows into the case, directly onto my boards. Since installing the extra case fans, I rarely hear the fans on my Graphics card or CPU kick on, everything stays cool.
Edit to add: This computer originally had no fans in the case, but had spots for two of them to be installed(one in the back of the main case, and one in the power supply box). The third I drilled some more holes and mounted it on the side to blow onto my boards. After maxing out the memory and installing a Graphics card, this thing used to smell like a fire in an Intel factory in the midst of a BK game, you could practically make fondu on the case it was so hot.

Dust can build up into "dust bunnies," which will stop the air from circulating. The dust mostly accumulates on your boards. It is advised that you open up your computer case and vacuum or blow it out very carefully roughly once a month. If the dust is left too long on a board it could cause overheating, which will cause the board to slow down or stop working altogether.
