The problem is GIMP. Try FastStone Image Viewer 6.2 (http://www.faststone.org)
You can use this program to resize and change the format of the image. It's a must have ;-)

My troops falled in a trap, but thanks to my two pak guns the enemy lost 4 or 5 tanks and I just 1 tanks and 2 armored cars.  |

hahaha, this is because I like to use some human units from TDA and the blood effects in that add on are a kind of "gore".

The reason why Bk still looks so good is in my opinion the realistic "feeling". Graphics are "dark" and cover in an excellent way one of the darkest years of mankind.
The game is also quite rewarding, I really love it when your remaining exhausted troops finally take a position and reinforcements arrive. You can "feel" the release to the soldiers as the tanks arrive.

I'm not sure if the colours in BK are that dark, at least not vanilla. Take a look at most maps and think away the military equipment and squads. Some maps look like a place you to spend your vacation. But I think I now what you mean and there must be something magical about BK because it's still my favourite game after 15 years. My youngest son bought me BKIII on Steam and although the graphic quality BKIII cannot be compared with the graphics of BK I do not feel the magic. I was sold to BK the moment I started the the game and moved a unit. I think it was the little puff of smoke coming from the exhaust of a unit hat made me fall in love with the game. I'm getting carried away and drifting off-topic here, sorry for that. |

From BK Assault, the Chinese mod. A very cool and well builded mission. However, every time I try to load the save files of this mission it crashes to the desktop.  |
