Map 4: This map is really cool, it's in the same category of others classic urban maps like "Budapest by GordonCZ", "Stalingrad by Ocelo" and "Yelnia by Dmitry M". However I had severeal problems with the scripts and I'm sure the mission didnt roled as you wanted, tedi88. I had the same problem related by Melvin, but once I had advanced a lot in the mission, I decided to keep playing. Well, I cleaned the citty with the T-34 reinforcement received after the ridge and it was a very tough task, no counter-attacks by the way, so I think the script wasnt running well. I lost 3 T-34/85 just to conquest the central square, panthers were a big headache, and the flame squads became handy to clean the buildings. The heavy tanks and artillery support never came, so It was necessary to conquest the bridge using my 4 or 5 surviving T-34s supported by my captured 88mm pieces. I could beat the enemy counter-attacks using those guns. The script started to looping the last objective and I needed to kill the scripts using the cheats. When I was close to get the last objective I noted a big AI reinforcement just stoped that, once it would be boring to kill then, I just cheated. Anyway, great use of terrain, nice balancement with the airplanes, but the script didnt run well, still, it was ver entertained to play the mission even the experience being very different than you wanted. Meaby I'll try this map another time in the future. Now, playing the 2nd chapter. Last comment, be care with warehouses, sometimes you put wharehouses to player0 in the middles of the AI forces, the players trucks can be attracted and is boring to lose units this way.

Funny thing how a simple thing as a variable can cause so much problems. Anyway, will be fixed in a more permanent way this week. Btw, thanks for comparing my map to the works of old masters. I'm humbled.

Hi Tedi88, in the first map of chapter 2 is necessary to clean all the citty of Mladenovac? Yes. Be sure to check the right flank as there could be some units hiding there.

Got it, 2nd mission in 2nd chapter now, I'll give a feedback of thw two missions later. EDIT: Another question: I didnt receive any engineer in this mission. Is this correct?

If there aren't any, then it's a big oversight on my part.

Report from the front, chapter 2: Map 1 and 2 done, the maps arent so beautifull as the others, probably because I dont like spring maps. Anyway, both are breakthrough maps and in this I must second stannenberg criticism about the necessity on making more variants kind of maps, also the enemy defences are too 'solid' with several and continuos lines of treches, I prefer more 'diverse' and more 'mobile' defences with some strongpoints in hills, between swamps and florests, with some tanks and infantry out of the trenches, so the player can try to manouver, etc. (actually the first line of defences in the second map is close of this concept). But I must say after getting used to your maps concepts I started to appreciate those big concentrations and reconcentrations of infantry and artillery to breake the enemy lines, by the way, the regimental guns are handy in this. The first map dont have anything special, is more a question to brake the enemy lines and proceed from your left to your right, evolving the enemy from inside, knocking his artillery and fighting house to house. The terrain is very well used (as usual), specially in the factory, but I had the impression the script with the armored train didnt run well. The second map is very cool, specially the counter-attack which is very well executed. Usually I think counter-attacks must be concentrated in one single point, so the player can prepare it's defence and have a good experience burning some AI tanks, but this counter-attack came all over of my line in several and very well synchronized waves (but the warning of counter-attack appeared when the enemy tanks were allready over my troops). Anyway, I had a hard time, specially in my left flank where they almost broke my lines and menaced my depot. The rest of the mission, cleaning trench by trench and street by street was more toilsome then fun, but I had some good moments too. The map have some bugs: after cleaning the citty I receieved the win message without liberating the prision camp, still I cleaned the prision after this and the objective wasnt checked, I didnt looked to some remaining units (once I allreday had won), but meaby you could check it. Also the objective to send the captured enemy troops to the bootom of the map wasnt checked. Some last remarks or suggestions: 1) The ambulances carriages allways get stuck on garden terrain, and this is very frustrating. Meaby someone who understand about 1.xml files could make a patch for this, or you shouldnt use it in spring season. 2) Not one single enginner truck in map 2! Also I didnt have it in the first two objective of Belgrade map (will they come?). 3) You should not allways give the objective to kill all the enemy forces in large script areas. For a citty is okay to use a command like if GetNUnitsInArea(1, "obj0") < 6, so the player dont need to look for all AI unit in the area. 4) Do not abuse using enemy squads in "deffensive formation", stuck to their position. Is a little frustrating taking several minutes to killing just one squad (but it can be very cool if you dont exagerate). In general, I'm learning to play your missions and enjoing it, also your campaign is a good way to learning how to explore GZM features and units. To Belgrade!

Any solution? Let's adress this issue first: where exactly are they stuck? Further why would they hinder completion of the mission? Regarding previous post: critic noted. I'll add engineers in mission 6 (don't know how I overlooked it) and change the objective structure a little. Thanks for those detailed reports.

Well, the carriages allways got stuck in the garden terrain if there are any debris, and in the Belgrade map there are lots of gardens with debris, which it means is not possible to replenish my squads. I believe is necessary to edit the 1.xml files, but I dont undestand about it... Is it a task for the super Major Pain?

I'll see what can be done with those horse carts. I second your request aimed at Major Pain. MP you have any advice on the matter?

Hi tedi88: How are you buddy! I hope you are better of your health! Well, I was finally able to beat Budapest chapter. Several painful and laborious maps to beat! Most of them have some minor bugs: objectives that are not checked, small crashes. But nothing serious and is posible to advance until the end. The only serious problem is the mission 09 "citty Center" that breaks all the time and it's impossible to play, in my thoughts maybe you should make a new mission to supplant the original, because probably is not possible to fix the original (I had similar problem in my last mission on "Road to Leningrad" and I decided to simply discard it. I will not repeat the previous complaints, after all, I think you have a "style" as a mapper which is these massive movements of troops, where you basically needs to crush the enemy with aviation and artillery to then proceed with the infantry. Once used to, I could have fun with this tactics. But meaby you could improve your style: first of all, I suggest not to abuse the trenches and forts and give more space for movement. Sometimes it is almost indifferent to make a frontal attack on a city or break the line of the enemy at the side and try to circumvent the strongholds (simply because there are trenches and fortresses on all sides). For example: in the map10 "bridgehead" when captured the airfield in Bezanija I tried to attack the city from the right, but the city's defenses were so powerful in the right, as in the front. Another thing, you definitely should not abuse on those "lying infantry squads", these are annoying and make the maps even more painful. Remember that each of your maps takes 4 to 6 hours to finish and do not need more resources to make then even longer. Also for your next maps I suggest not make so many objectives, In my opinion, on the map 08 "Strike from the east", the last two goals (clear the infantry lying in the park) are totally unnecessary and almost irrtitaing. Why one objective where all you need is to clean the trenches? Finally, the map 11 Battle of Batina is really interesting! If I was the mapper, I would try to leave the citty defenses much more lighter and to force the player to capture it only with infantry and light artillery, but it was still cool to destroy everything with my Il-2s and with my rockets. The counter-attack ran very well: I almost hated you after being defeated twice, but I think this is the best mission of the whole Campaing so far! Finally, only 3 more missions now! Phew! To Vienna!
