R.I.P., Mr. Hunnicutt.
It's sad to watch the passing of America's "greatest generation". My father was a WWII Navy vet. He passed of a heart attack in 1988. I had an uncle who was a WWII Marine vet. He passed of cancer in the same year. While working at Walmart I made friends with a WWII vet fighter-pilot who flew Wildcats, I believe, in the Pacific. I haven't seen him in years so he must have passed away. So sad to see them go.
Ciao, John

Result of work on skin US_M4A3 (76) Wa, model of Major Pain. Skin (live) is suitable for other models of this modification (with oval hatch).

Update the topic. Complete processing model M4A3E2. Model at Major was very high quality. I think that a series of such models can wait a little longer (work hard).

Great work as usual. The level of detail you have put in this model is just amazing. People, look at the crates and jerrycans!! I especially like the way you work with highlighting and shadow effects. This gives depth to the model and makes it come alive.

Quintaxel thank you! The idea of detail - it's all the work of Major. There have been several variants of models, and each time they improved. Stayed on this standard. And based on this I think will be a completely new series. Working with retouching models - the hardest part of painting. It sometimes takes a very long time. And a number of tests in the game until you get optimal results.

gagarin is correct when he states this is a new Series.
I did some things different when we started this project. The hull now has been opened up under the turret ring. The turret now has part of the basket on the bottom. So when it is blown off, no longer just a flat bottom. New parts trump some Sherman older parts. New tarps and crates. Added the tow cable and tow eyes. The hull is wider and a tad longer due to increased armor... over standard M4 hulls. Added duckbills (Grousers) to the tracks and wider fenders. These are slightly narrower than the HSVV suspension tracks and fenders.
The skin and 1.xml from the Sherman Series II tanks will not work on these. These are a subset and share some characteristics, but use slightly different models and codes.
I did a lot of research on this interesting 254 unit run of Shermans. When they arrived in France in late August 44, tank crews were assigned within the Division level. Each platoon might get one of these... others might not get any. So in a platoon you might have one E2 and 4 other versions of M4s (M4, M4A1 and M4A3). Note: The E8s (Easy Eights) or the HVSS models began to join the ranks in December 44. Some E2s were retained by Company HQs, which defeated their purpose. HQ units usually did not go on offense unless special teams or platoons were assigned. E2s were personalized by the Commander and Crew, perhaps more than previous M4s. They were considered to be in their own class and used as the point during battle. While around 100 were destroyed, they were well worth their weight in gold.
If you look at images of the E2 Assault Shermans, you will see many differences from standard M4s... missing lights, sometimes the gun locks were removed, etc... Anything that created a trap, was removed or not installed. The tracks were different and the front and side armor was very pronounced. Probably the most famous of the E2s was the King Cobra due to its arrival in Bastogne during the Ardennes Offensive.
I hope the community will like and enjoy these models. Each has it's own flavor and appearance, mostly due to the stowage placed on the hulls and turret. Did you guys see the backpacks on the turrets? These might be the most detailed models that I have done at this point, although the soon to be release T34 3rd Generation is right up there as well.
If you guys ask him real nice... gagarin might show an example of one of the T34s we've been working on for the last year.

The quality of these series is amazing, both the modeling and the skinning. So I'm asking real nice. 'Gagarin could you please show an example of one of the T34's'

Thanks for koments mens!
That model and the game image T-34-85, proposed a series of models of T-34 tanks. For example, this model is planned to improve a little more.
