I have a brand new laptop w/ Windows 8.1. This is replacing my other laptop (vista) & desk top(XP,SP3), BOTH CRASHED, separately and unrelated. Had NO PROBLEMS with the ANY of the BK when they worked. So for the most part all is well. Occasionally the game screen will VERY BREIFLY flash white. While it does not seem to effect the game, it can be annoying. The biggest problem I am having is that NONE OF the maps/ chapters that I have downloaded here or Legacy are installing. I have the latest version of 7zip and Win Zip. So what is going on? I would appreciate some help ASAP. Also still looking for Mission(s) Kursk & Barbarossa.

You don't give much info on your new laptop, but I'll try to help...
When the screen turns white more than likely you're experiencing a memory or graphic issue.
The graphics card is integrated on the motherboard and probably cannot be upgraded. About all you can try to do is try another resolution/screen size.
The memory might be less than what you need, although originally, BK could run on less than 1mb with limited resources.
Systems were not as sophisticated as they are now, and graphics have drastically improved. With new models and objects coming out every week, todays computers can usually handle them alright.
Check your system resources and look at memory and the graphics memory. If the laptop has 1gb or less, then look into increasing it.
When you play, make sure everything that you don't need is turned off. Don't have programs running in the task manager or background. If your system is a duo or quad core, you may have issues with background events going on where system resources are causing your white screen. Quad cores like their own memory and when they run out, they take it from somewhere else.
The issues I have seen with Win8 have been graphical issues. Originally, Win8 was designed for devices other than laptops and towers. Microsoft basically tried to force their users into a product that followed device trends, and failed to listen to them. Overwhelmingly their customers rejected Win8 because there wasn't a Start Button or task bar. Everything was navigated by touch. I assume you have Win8.1 with the Start Button, since most laptops are now delivered with that version.
On aspect that is similiar to Win7 is some programs do not like the Windows 8 file directory, or better yet...Windows 8 does not like some programs. Games like BK must not be loaded under Program Files. The file system will not find mods or add-ons for the game. You should load the game in its own Folder under the C Drive, or C -> Games -> Biltzkrieg.
I hope this helps.
