Hello my fellow Blitzkrieg comrades. Its been a long time for me, but I'm going to try and get back to making some maps. Something I've been aiming to do for a while now. I've never actually posted a map on here before because it cannot compare to the amazing work that everyone else has on here. But if I can get any advice from anyone on making campaigns I would be greatly thankful. My dilemmas in map making are mostly trying to create campaign schemes (briefing menus with text and maps) and how to make proper objectives in the maps (Having instructions, correctly named objective steps appear in-game, and giving the little arrows in the mini-map). I realize some of this probably has to do with the resource editor which I am completely useless with . Also how would I go about making custom units and core units with custom names (by custom I mean just creating a unit with a particular name and maybe more health, nothing to do with editing skins or that sort). For a very long time I've wanted to make a custom campaign of my own where the player could perhaps become immersed in the story of the campaign; Like a good book maybe. Where there would be characters you like, depend on, or just don't like at all for good reason. I've been a BK1 loyalist for years. I plan to use the GZM 7.77 mod until they have made an update. I love the mod because it tries to stay true to historical accuracy and provides much to use. I hope to hear from you whether you have advice or even just comments on the idea. Thanks.

Hi Blitzguy1991, A great start to make mapmaking is Ocelo (see linked post); OceloYou also find here a link to Ocelo's BKmpasEditorTutorial.pdf and link to Lua-Script editor. Get started with scripting you will need Lee Cambell's Lua-script Tutorial. Calvin's_Blitzkrieg_Lua_Scripting_Guide.pdfFinally, you can find all kind of tips in tricks in the Thread Blitzkrieg Maps\Map Making Help section of this forum. My tip. Take an existing custom map. Extract everything. Open the map in the map-editor, the script in the Lua-script editor and see what is in Scenario/custum.. Here you find the text files and 1.xml. The 1.xml links everything together (MAP, Script, Texts and here you manage the arrow's on the minimap). Good luck

QUOTE : I've never actually posted a map on here before because it cannot compare to the amazing work that everyone else has on here puah! ... what's mean? because it miss of something? i plaied any sort of maps during the years, the worst i remember those single missions made for stalingrad and some for HF very very basic. my chapter -far east 37- was surely better of those works. don't think you are worst of who post, and anyway the practise, like in everything, make the rest. i've always believe each of us should share with the community what he makes, so increasing the resources we could have and play, study and eventually edit .. it's all work for us ! my suggestion could be play the map you like (follow the talent you prefer) and choose those for your experiments, like keep it simple told you, exctracting folders and files and study on that. then start to make, question by question will be surely asked by everybody who know here. just an advice about gzm 7.77 : consider it isn't an official release so it could happen something changes in the next official patch, but i don't know, anyway it would be most prudent make it for 7.51 (last official patch).

A small correction 7.77 is an official version, but at the same time it's a beta version as well.

Thanks for replying guys. I understand the 7.77 version of GZM is probably not perfect, but it has a lot to use and I have no idea when they will come out with another update on it. I guess I might be a little too hard on myself. I've always aspired to make intriguing maps for people to play, but I feel I should learn more before I post an officially finished map. Perhaps posting some test maps for feedback wouldn't hurt. I have a few maps finished for the 7.77 that somebody may like. If anything it will help someone else learn or even use the map for a custom mission of their own.
