Today I saw the CSLA topic was closed by Major Pain.
As far as I understood the reason was a former discussion about copyright.
In the last week posts Kevin put up some anouncements of updating his mod. Gagarin placed some screenshots from units. Kevin did not mention anything about placing these updates on the forum.
He made a little hint that new units are made by him and some other persons. Nothing about trespassing copyright on this board..
Nevertheless it appears that 6! members made a complaint about Kevins recent posts. WTF?
Exept that the topic is closed, Kevin as well is banned.
To be honest, this puzzles me quite a bit.
Since when is it not allowed to place messages/anouncements or screenshots of mods/units on the forum?
Even if there is an copyright issue, then everything, like texts/pictures, cartoons and illustrations we found on the net and placed on the forum must be banned?
I myself once or twice put screenshots of reworked textures from existing models, not of my hand on the board.
I have seen in many mods items from other Nival games, or even from other games like American Conquest etc. These where no huge problems as far as I know.
Then we have on this forum many members who make maps and submods for the GZM mod. A mod that contains all kinds of stuff of questionable resource. Members place update anouncements/screenshots and maps for dowload of this mod on the board.
Now, who can explain me the difference between Kevin's recent posts and the many comparable posts from other members?
There is no CSLA download link on this Forum as there is no GZM link as well.
In my opinion there was done no wrong by Kevin.
I understand the policy of not placing 'illegal items' on the board, but since none was the fact, why do people get banned? We must not get to rigide and slamming the door when only a hint is made about copyrights.
