von, i agree when you say to do to continue, to trasform the forum to be much near to ww2 / BK contents.
i've always dreamed to read here the same fury i read in sites like axishistory when i'm searching infos about the war, but here who follow this way? i mean, many people or players don't know and aren't properly interested in the historical background, and even if i would say is a shame, this reality exists!! and maybe for the mayority.
if i wrong, we're the community, our are the posts and the threads, let's do it!
too easy say i don't find good arguments, too off-topic posts (even if in a dialogue beetween people is pretty normal expand in the more several ways a discussion or just a point of a comment), .... pfffff .....

wittmann is always too democratic even if in good purpose, the risk is to wait too time and conclude nothing. do it whatever you believe to do, absolutly, us, we're the community, and sure, MP wasn't the boss, he was just a member who revolutioned the Game introducing his great models, years of work for which no one should hazard word or worst reclaim claims about it. then, we're the forum, let's build it as we want .... but this is always been, also in MP moderator era (gods have him in glory) .................................................

I agree that an admin password, given in confidence by Aleksej to MP is not something lightly to take. As far as i knew Doug, he would never have 'violated' that confidence.

Find Aleksej asap, i would say. I don't care who is next moderator, but Aleksej is the one who should provide a new admin password, is he not? What's the hurry anyway, merging topics?  

Last thing MP would have wanted is quarreling like this. We should be busy with modding, mapping, skinning and building. Doug tried to combine us, not divide us.

Okay, I deleted my last post and lets return to the topic.
My posting seemed quite simple; there is a FB page, and everybody who likes to join and like to chatter is very wellcome.

reading the first posts of this topic, FB page wasn't the only point of discussion of this thread.
for this reason, some members expanded the conversation, and this is right, over natural, at least beetween humans.
what isn't right, it's spit on the dishes where we've always ate.
anyway wittmann, no one spitted on the Major, this i hope for sure, even if some words could be misinterpreted.
main issue is too many people (for how much we can be ..) continue to complain for a forum which is in first our, as it seems we agree, even if, as i said, it was also before. we want realize something new and cool, and no-offtopic and stricly linked to BK and ww2 ... let's do it !!!

then is normal have more feelings with someone rather than some-others, but as some members said here, we have to rest united in the respect we everybody should have to the other members, if we want mantein the ''hope alive'', or next steps will be the death of this forum, and just the russians (from the great indipendent mother russia) will have the exclusive about the Game (think Mat! but also stan ... no more kurskers )

about new moderator ... me, as always in these kind of situation ... i hope in a coup d'etat

I realise I am new member but I think the OP comments on a new focus is the way to go. One focus I might suggest is making the site an essential resource for people coming back to Blitzkrieg (my case) or people discovering the game for the first time.

As a returnee I am aware that a huge amount of fan based content existed and was quite surprised that it had continued to grow in the lengthy period since I last played (getting close to 10 years I think). The first thing I did when I decided to return was to gather all the content I could find, in case it disappeared. The second thing, just started, was to gather the modding tools and tutorials that interested me. So far I have collected, including some of my old files that had survived the break, around 40GB of Blitzkrieg material. The point being that almost none of it came from this site and I think that is a major problem that needs to be addressed urgently.

As people get involved in Blitzkrieg they look for more content and there are 2 things which jump out at me, first, during google searches this site does not appear often enough in results which leads me to suspect that the answers are not within the site, secondly, there is no Download section in the site. To download something is, quite frankly, far to hard as it requires endless searching.

So that's my 5 cents worth. I hope the site does continue and I hope it is successful in gaining new members and getting ex members to return. Although no doubt, all the files I have can be accessed through the web I'd be happy to make them available. I'd also be happy to give further input into the site organisation.

Anyway, you're very right in your remarks. It was the choise of the sitebuilder not to put in a downloadsection.
The reason why, I honestly can't remember. Most of the contend made is available via Geocities/ Legacy of Blitzkrieg. When we have found a new moderator, I think it would be worthly to discuss a download section.

Geocities is where I got most of my downloads but that site is having problems because of limits being placed on the free storage by (yahoo I think). He had a message up telling visitors a lot of the downloads would soon disappear so an approach to him may be well received. And yes I think I did have another handle back in BK Portal days.
