Mate, I use W10, had the same problems when I got Anthology, and after a lot of looking around on the web, came up with this package of fixes:
- Execute in compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP2, not 3)
- Set affinity to the "0" core of the processor (mine's a Pentium R G3250 3.20Ghz Dual Core)
- Use 16-bit reduced color mode
- Run software as Administrator
- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
- Include the entire package (Game launcher, map editor and reseditor) as a Data Execution Prevention exception. If running Anthology, include all 3 versions (B1, BH and RT). You should end up with 9 exceptions then
- If you use Steam or some other online platform, run the game directly from the PC; disable all instances of said platform immediately after launch
- Close all other applications before launch and during play time
After a hellish first month, before I implemented this, it's been four and a half now without a single compatibility-related crash.
