I've seen this issue pop up every now and then on the internet, but i found no satisfying solution to it.
So, i get this problem when the game gets stuck on the Blitzkrieg splash screen, right after i click on it. I have to close the process from the Task Manager afterwards, where it says that the Power Usage is Very High.
I've tried all the usual solutions to no avail: all compatibility modes, added an exception to the DEP, set the affinity to a single CPU Core. The only way i managed to play it is by running it inside VMware on a Windows 7 instalation. It's playable, but it's kinda laggy.
So, i come here again and ask: has anyone manage to find a working solution to this annoying problem in the past few years?
Note that i have the game on GOG, but the exact same problem happens to ALL Enigma engine games: BK2, Talvisota, Stalingrad, Cuban Missle Crisis

yeah, i've seen that thread too. Tried everything there a couple of times, and nothing works for me.
I'm thinking that since the same thing happens to each and every Enigma game, and, even more, it's happening very early in the game launch (during the splash screen), there must be some basic process that's running during the game startup that interferes with my computer. But since i know nothing about programming, i can't figure out what it is.
I'm hoping that you guys, who have more experience in modding the engine, have a better idea of what's going on during that time.

I have "cured" my WINDOWS 10 by following these steps, not all of them worked as predicted so I had pick a step from here and there and then tweek it a little. It is doable. I am no expert myself, but Google is a great help! Are you using desktop or laptop? Steps needed would differ as both work in a different way.
Hope you get a result, we can not afford to loose you!

Nope, antivirus isn't the issue either. I even started the PC up with minimal boot to get rid of all additional apps my computer would have running in the background, and the game still doesn't start. Guess that for now i'll stick to running it in the Virtual Machine, or maybe try that Windows to USB trick that was suggested in the post linked by Fallschirmjager, to have a separate Windows 7 install that will actually use my real computer hardware, not some emulated stuff.
EDIT: fallschirmjager, i have a desktop PC

Just a thought, have you got classicshell installed? I have and it has made a huge difference in terms of usability and practicability. Again I do not whether it actually has any affects on BK or any other programs. Have a another go, if I could make it (old dinosaur) I am sure you can too FJ

iskandr, The GOG version, is this an installed version of of the game? I would suggest to do the following; 1) Copy the complete directory of your BK installation to another folder. You can even copy the folder to a pen drive. 2) Completely uninstall Blitzkrieg usin a tool like Geek uninstaller (https://geekuninstaller.com/) After uninstalling, start the game.exe from the folder containing your BK installation. (run as admin and compatibilty Win XP Service pak 2) If this does not work then you can opt to re-install the game but that will not be necessary. You can always run the game and mapeditor directly from the run folder.
