***UPDATE 4-2-2014: note that this project got scaled down, converted into GZM 7.5 or 7.77, and can be found here:blitzsrbija.proboards.com/thread/1257/gzm7-5-ocelo-mappackI have envisioned and have located some great maps to construct a series of chapters dealing mainly with battles in the Ukraine, Hungary, Austria, and Germany (perticular emphasis on the first two so far). Here's how it looks in terms of missions and organization. Soviet Campaign, post-Kursk to May 9 (ie: USSR victory day). LIBERATION OF UKRAINE1.Kerch Landings, 29 November-December 1943 2.Ukraine Spring JASSY-KISHINEV OFFENSIVE, 19443.Breakthrough 4.[MC]Kishinev 5.[MC]Two sides of the coin (reworked)HUNGARY, 19456.Encirclement of Budapest 7.Siege of Budapest 9.Balaton Counteroffensive (defensive map) 10.Balaton Counteroffensive (defensive/offensive map)

I was thinking of offering three Soviet missions, Kalach 1942, Borograd 1943 and Lublin 1945. Then again they all have been released, so you might prefer new stuff.

You should give the name of the original map and its creator to make easier the identification of the maps.

bb: I am adapting almost all of these maps, ie: making the missions from scratch. A lot come from a chapter called "Never Give Up", of Chinese origin, I think. A few are adapted from the Czechoslovak Brigade mod, though, again, the missions themselves will be brand new. I'll credit the authors in each map+final credits.

Oh, understood. I also make my maps for this way, and there are some good multiplayer maps to be used too.

What about the battle for Berlin? Specially the heavy fights in Berlins outskirts are not present in Bk until today. German troops were often circled by advancing russian troops. Nevertheless the germans often had heavy weapons like Tiger II or lots of experienced Waffen SS soldiers. They even started small counterattacks to unite with some other troops to increase their abilities and possibilities to fight against the russians. I read about one battle where Wencks army was involved. Wenck got to know, that some other quite strong units were surrounded only some kilometers away from him, Wenck had radio contact with them. After speaking to his remaining officers, he eventually decided to attack. Fuel was transferred from his trucks to his tanks, wounded soldiers were left alone in the woods. Every soldiers who was able to fight got as much ammunition as he could carry. Worthless verhicles and tanks were blown up. In the early evening his tanks start the attack. Tiger II tanks supported by grenadiers, attacked towards the Reichsautobahn (1?). The russian troops where surprised but soon the battle was brutal. While the heavy german tanks lead the way, the russians fired rounds into the woods so that the splinters of the woods kill or injure the german soldiers. At dawn Wencks troops finally reached the other germans. The Reichsautobahn was now full of wrecked T34 and some knocked out Tiger II. During the whole night one could hear the cruel screams of deadly wounded soldiers from both sides. You can find this battle in Anthony Beevors book about the Battle for Berlin. I hope my English was good enough

Thanks for the interest and suggestions. The Battle of the Halbe pocket was similar- rural, wooded german countryside, attacking enemy troops, Soviet counterattacks, encirclements, frst battles, some German sucesses too in reaching the West. I thought this battle was particularly forgotten, while the battle of Berlin has been covered well and extensively in BK. Nevertheless, if you want to make a quality map(s) about the battle, I would be happy to include them.

I am currently making a good, large, historical 26x26 map on Operation Kutuzov- the battle fo Orel following Kursk, I think SJ or someone else said it would be a good mission to have.
Have really spent a lot of time to decorate the steppes. May be a bit overdone, but otherwise the map would be boring, while now its very nice.

Some Screens. Sorry for the size, but maybe they'll draw some comments ;D Of course, the mission is much more dynamic than the map appears to be. Unfortunately, though, BK of course won't take mapshots at this size (26x26), and altering in-game res didn't work, so consider this a taste. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Yeah, they're urban-like.
For making villages, I now have a general rule to use 50% diagonal fence objects and the rest conventional fencelaying. That makes the yards much more interesting and less boring; you may notice I only have a careful selection of houses and flora to accompany them (minimum work and time in the end), and still they look nice.

This particular project is currently on hold. I am working on a version of it- a 14-map mini campaign/large chapter for the USSR, in the GZM-7 mod. This will ensure that it is released sooner. Apologies for those hoping to play it in BK3, but I imagine adapting the maps is possible for that mod if/when it comes out as well. I have seen that a new, large map about Orel has been made for the GZM-7 mod, so that mission is off my list, so is the map the images of which I posted above. If anyone wants it perhaps it will find a new home. Its terrain is sorta specific to the steppes, so I can't work with it. The map is basically what you see above, ~24x24, the large city in the middle (with airport and rail yard), surrounded by a lot of the steppes terrain and roads. Made very nice. I have seen that a new, large map about Orel has been made for the GZM-7 mod, so that mission is off my list.... Why? Unless you include the new mission mentioned above into your chapter/campaign, there will be a hole in your chapter. If you've gone so far in your map, why not finish it? Don't you want the chapter to be all-Ocelo? If anyone wants it perhaps it will find a new home. Its terrain is sorta specific to the steppes, so I can't work with it. The map is basically what you see above, ~24x24, the large city in the middle (with airport and rail yard), surrounded by a lot of the steppes terrain and roads. Made very nice. Yes, a very nice map, lots of effort went into it. Why abandon it?
I cleaned it off for vanilla BK to get a good look at it. I'm not too sure about a number of points. The log says there were some PzKw II-a's and PzKw III-d's removed. Not sure why those would be there in 1943. I'm also not sure why the Germans would be facing south and west (but not north) on the scenario.
I just look at it and can envision large numbers of tanks from both sides clashing.

The map by simeo is larger and more historical. As you may deduce from the German positions, I really had no clue about the exact placement of forces; I only knew that there were two pincers moving onto Orel, and that there was a number of tough armored battles. Anyways, my chapter will begin in late-1943.
Anyways, I haven't much free time now left, so I'm focusing on covering battles/operations which were not well-covered previously. Right now I'm reincarnating the Budapest map by Ufiak from MC.

Recently finished a complete remake of the MC Budapest map by Ufiak. The map is now freshly adapted to the GZM-7 mod, making use of its variety of large urban buildings from Stalingrad. I have even been able to construct several historical buildings, such as the palace of Budapest. The quantity of units has also greatly increased, though I have put a lot of effort to make this tough, pitched, and explosive battle fit into the capabilities of most common PCs, with many of the units arriving as reinforcements. There is one very weird bug, however, that has had me stumped. I have a serious number of enemy units arriving at various places in one region of the map with ID 11. ID is assigned, defined in the map editor and the LUA file. But it never comes! If I use a cheat and call for it, I am told that it does not exist! :? Anyways, besides that, I will be looking for a lucky tester to try it out (perhaps Ufiak is a fitting candidate ); anyways, you can ask via PM. Besides this map, I have recently completed another fall-time map about the encirclement of Budapest (a precursor to the map above). Adapted from the chapter "Never give Up", I think the cosmetics are very nice, and I hope the scenario is creative and interesting (you start out with an initial offensive and take over 1/2 of the map from badly battered and weak enemy forces, but beyond are heavier fortifications and AT systems, and only one bridge across a river, which is firmly blocked by a strong enemy position. The player can choose to try advance across the bridge and dash for the city, or wait for 30minutes+reorganize while he awaits the engineers with a pontoon bridge, as well as a heavy tank company. But by that time, the enemy will be receiving reinforcements of his own. Other aspects of the map less common to the usual soviet-sided 1944 scenario are evenly pitched air forces (due to the proximity of enemy airfields, the distance from the player's airfields, and the soggy season), so the player will only have fighter and recon cover. Of course, being Hungary, the player will also encounter lots of pretty potent Hungarian enemy units, though at times they will defect. This map has a timing issue (the 23 minutes seemed to fly by during the test, I didn't even manage to cross the river) which should be tweaked, objective texts/arrows added, and given another full test, but is otherwise complete. I should upload screens sometime.
