I read War and Peace in College to write a thesis.   

Not one of my best decisions.  

My thesis was a short story...  

Hell the footnotes were longer than the actual discussion.  

They took up 12 of the 20 pages, (typed, double spaced, at least 3500 words)  

Funny how that stuff just clutters your mind after 43 years.   


I really want to know if the professor really counted the number of words or took a wild guess.

Here's a couple of pics of my revamped weapons folder:

 

I've named them by proper country, class, size, and nomenclature. Hopefully my research is spot on and I'm accurate in the details.

I've added quite a few new weapons in the mix but if anyone sees any missing weapons or inaccuracies I would appreciate a yell.

A few of the weapons are pretty generic for all countries so they're at the end of the pile.

I've updated all of the small-arms to my new mod's standards, . . . so now onto the big guns.

That will surely make it easier to overlook, but you will have to point every unit's xml to the correct weapon file as well... a heavy task imho. One mistake and game might crash...

A missing weapon file doesn't couse a crash. It's only embarrassing for modders as the unit in question won't shoot. I made this mistake recently. The game didn't crash and I only found out after comet34 pointed it out to me. I very much like the ordering in the weapon's file but it's a lot of work to get it right.

I experienced different... the game will load ok and so does the unit, but from the moment the unit is firing, my game crashes... (not the MapEditor)

Thanks for the comments and yes, it was a lot of work. I've worked on and off for about a week to get this far, . . . and I'm not done yet, . . . but modding is always an ongoing process. I now need to adjust the big guns attributes and then link each unit's 1.xml files. A lot of work but well worth it I think. Since I'm going through each unit one by one, adjusting skins, attributes, names, and whatever else, I decided to start with the weapons files. I'm also working in .pak files for each type of unit. An example would be my Grossdeutschland units. Once the Grossdeutschland.pak is made (I use 7-zip), I can add, delete, or adjust any file within the .pak file without actually having to unzip and then zip it again. A much easier process. I know this will constitute a lot of .pak files but think of how easy it will be to find and adjust each without interference or interruption of any other files.

Hey guys,

I was hoping some of you would download and evaluate my Fallschirmjager.

I've tested all of the squads and units and they load fine.

It's a .pak file so all you need to do is unzip it and add it to the data folder of BK or your choice of mod.
