I would like to do some more translating of the HG mod but before I do I need to know more about the encoding of the txt files. The text files of the original German version of HG is not displayed correctly on my computer. Characters like ö, ü that show ok in the txt editor are not displayed in the game itself.
Some examples;
"Brummbär" the ä character "Armeé" the é character
will not be displayed correctly
Is there anyone who knows what type of encoding I should use for the desc.txt and name.txt files?

mbkg Feldgrau Love those catches maps, it is clear realism and charm in the environment. You have a special charm for realism. Good work. Liebe diese Fänge von landkarte, ist es klar, Realismus und Charme in der Umwelt. Sie haben einen besonderen Reiz für Realismus. Gute Arbeit.

It's not an encoding issue, i think you have the english fonts in your game where there aren't any accents in the fonts files try to use this one, i know it works for french, spanish but i don't remember if there are the accents used by the germans, simply put the .pak file in your data folder.

Hi Quintaxel
for "ä" you can "ae",for "ü" you can "ue" und for "ö" you can "oe" write.
---> this in the Mods/Heeresgruppe/Data-Ordner then it be displayed correctly, I believe.

Scyooff : Thanks, I was not aware that BK uses it's own font. I'll try the font.pak you posted. feldgrau : I could use the characters as you suggest. I normally use the Stalingrad interface. I noticed that this UI is compatible with English German and porbably also French characters (like é,ç,à,...) Using the Stalingrad interface would make things more simple.

Mat, any info/help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance. I started the translation of the unit names and 'recognition manual' (Erkennungshandbuch). This is a hell of a job, but I'm not in a hurry. It just give me an idea of the enormous ammount of work that goes into the mods you guys make. The priority for me is the translation of units that are used in the Poland campaign so mainly German and Polish units. I use the Stalingrad interface because the font is smaller, making it easier to read, so I have no issues with characters not being displayed correctly. I took a brief look at the fonts that were provided by feldgrau and Scyooff and I'm quite confident that these fonts will work to as the contain more characters than the English font I have.
