I have been away some days and I missed what happened. At first glance it seemed that MP did want to quit but now it's clear that he want just to rest.
Good and wise decision.
We will wait for MP and will be able to manage misunderstandings, flame, trolls, errors and so on (MP, thanks for saying we did a good job on that 
A new good moderator could be ESP-wittman, Big Joe or whatever he want call himself... We know we are talking about, my vote is for him.

How right you are.

I in my opinion, I think Major Pain is self-sufficient to lead this community, all you need Major Pain, is that we facilitate the work, all members behave responsibly. Among them I include myself.

That should be easy if all we got to consider real friends here in this community, the most important thing I have seen all this time, is that we all help as far as possible.

Now that's a small gesture of each of us, and a great achievement for the whole community.

I had no doubt that MP is the best moderator we can think about and I had no doubt either that Alexander's will is the one that matters.
Said that, we should consider that MP said us he need rest and rest means, as much as possible, to avoid any kind of problems including them related to a forum.
Surely I don't know MP as much as some people in this community know him, but I'm pretty sure that he is asking us to drive moderation on our own without his help for some time.
So when I talk about a new moderator I'm not in any way show disregard to MP meaning he has to quit and stay out.
On the contrary, the faster we provide some solutions the lesser he has to worry about a community he gives a great value.
Hope that this clarifies my mind on this subject and sorry, MP, If I misunderstood your thinking.

Vonosten would be surely a good moderator.

Over the years the Major proved to be a great moderator. However, when I remember correctly the Major pointed out that under the situation as it is now, it can be quite a burden. There has been a suggestion to devide tasks.
So why should there be one moderator? Tasks can be devided by say, three moderators.
I don't know if I'm good moderator. Mostly lack of time and a prehistoric pc. All my spare time I spend on texturing or modifying. Its my main interest. Moderating is not.

Well, seeing members by rank we have one admin, two global moderators, and four moderators (just for English section).
So MP is not the only one moderator but the one we see more often.
IMHO Five (or six, for that matters) moderators are better than four but the vonosten situation is also the mine one: too little spare time to use it as moderator so I can understand him totally (...and, at least, he makes beatiful skins...  )
