I create again a new threat today, since the former was closed.. So the situation is as follows; MP decided to quit. I'm surprised no one opened a threat on this happening.. I want to thank Doug (MP) for the many years of great contribution to this forum and to 'our game'. It has not been an easy job all these years being a modelmaker and moderator. Especially when a person gets sick on top of it. The last few months appeared to be difficult ones, and for Doug the focus was, ofcourse, on more prior matters. Maybe it was a bit too much, and I have all understanding for this.
Today I spoke out my surprise on a blockade to one of our members issued by MP. I tried to understand this and gave my opinion, some members seemed to agree with my view. For MP this appeared to be one too much... This saddens me. I think this forum has been great for many years, because we could speak out our opinion without disrespecting other members. I think we not always have to agree and that's when we come to a point to solve the questions in a friendly way. I think we are all equal on this forum, and even as a moderator, sometimes its good to listen to the suggestions offered by other members. Its not meant as criticism!! Just a efford to discuss situations and points of view. It is not by al means a personal matter. And I think it counts for most of us. This said, I regret the discission made by Major Pain.
If I may give a last suggestion; Doug, maybe its good to take a rest after all you've been through. Maybe its a good discission to give another person the responsibility of moderating this site. In time you can pick up what we all want and like: namely your contribution in word, splendid models, and knowledge about many of the Second World War machinery.
To conclude this writing I'd like to speak out I have no wish what so ever of becoming moderator of this site. I just not have the time or feeling for it. Thereby I consider myself not the person to direct a successor for Major Pain. I think if any feels the need of taking this upon him, the best thing is to contact Alex. Hoping to meet you again on this site, Doug. Best wishes, "Von"

Well, as a mapper and mainly a player who never understood the questions in the modder side of the community, I think we should calm down a little. We allready had those fights about copyrights and authory of units and we overcome it. Is natural to have some quarrels but, after all, this is just a game and we are here to have fun. Nobody is perfect and is normal that some of the old guys have different opinions about a drastic decision like to ban one of the members (I remember of the old days of BKHQ when I got really sad after my friend Ocelo was banned), I think Von Osten question was ok, also I believe these little issues will be solved with some talk after all people get his heads cool.
Said this, I must assert today BK is MP and MP is BK. The "old tiger" carried these forums (with the help of Alex and other great guys here) for a long time and I'm sure we all want he come back here as contributor and moderator (but if health issues demands to share part of the work with Von Osten or another of the veterans I presume he will be a good assistant).
We will stay together! Untill the bitter the end! (I think this was a tittle of one of the Manhunter chapters). Regards, BB

I am at a loss for words after what has transpired. Please reconsider your decision Doug, as your health improves, and return to your comrades.
It is a black day indeed.

I want to thank MP for very much all his work he did for us (a thread of 197 pages and over 200 thousand views say it all).
That he decided to retire from the forum as moderator is something that I respected and excepted. Leave the forum in command of person how ends up in hospital for just getting a cookie is may be not wise.
That MP also wants to retires as artist and contributor to the forum however sadden me. I hope he is willing to reconsider the later. I love the great knowledge he has on WW2 vehicles. And I also would love see they things he was working on complete here.
So I hope is bye bye MP moderator and hello MP the artist and WW2 history specialist.

Well said! Hopefully he has not closed the door on this site. We stayed with you Major thru all your issues this past year as friends do, I hope you will reconsider and stay with us as a friend would do.
In all fairness I am a little peeved by this-I understand that being moderator may not be in the cards for you. But to leave like this is just not right.

Major Pain.
I've been away for a short time here in the community, but always I am reminded of my friends here, it is why I consider many of this community friends at some point have reported particular problems that prevented me to commit myself in my work for the community. It is for this reason, I understand if you talk about your concerns, and to seek solace in their friends in the community. (All of us without exception).
I can understand that after so many years a person want and need a respite in their functions, but really do not understand you want to go completely leaving all his friends behind.
Remember the times you had to give me encouragement to continue, and you've been my real strength to achieve it.
I like many friends of the community, we are not the idea that you leave us.
I particularly if I was interested in their health, if it were not so, I would not have prayed to God for you every night.
I have to admit that on occasion, we have confided in private messages, and we have come to know enough to have us a great appreciation.
Let me be clear with you!
You deserve to rest and recover his health, but I forbid you to leave us determinedly indefinitely.
I am convinced that you, it is not telling us the whole truth, because his departure is forced through no fault of you.
On the other hand, I do not think anyone in their right mind, would you ask him to leave the community, for the reason it is.
I wish that not too late and that you can read these simple but heartfelt lines.
Please my dear friend, reconsider its decision and is a friend of all of us.
Your humble friend.
Joseph (Big Joe).

After some days of Thinking about i have a clearer view onto everything.
There are Copyrights. Theres Law. There has to be one who needs to be Moderator.
-->And this one has to follow the Forum Rules.
it cant be clearer to anybody.
Moderating a Forum like this is a Time-expensive but unpaid Job, unpaid twice because not many People show Respect for someone giving his freetime that everyone can follow their interests.
I understand the Decision, i would have quitted this long before. Its a Job you dont receive anything, you just face Trouble in many cases and for all that not even a "Thank You"
For me its very sad the Major isnt around anymore.

Yes Mat, you are right. I think most of the members, from which are many here for many years, do really understand the copyright thing. Basicly most of our members have no bad intentions what so ever. They're just game enthusiasts. Many have made, or tried to make units, mods etc. which have their special interest. Sometimes 'older' mods are used to renew or build out, like I did once with my Dutch mod. Sometimes its hard to retrace the origins of allready existing models. I think you ran into that yourself when you started working on your first Heimatfront version. When there is reason of doubt, Blitzsrbija does not place a download link on this forum. Its the best way in avoiding problems. There are however other sites where you can download these mods, like GZM, or even pay for them like the stolen stuff from Brendel Software. Its is however not illegal to write about these mods or place screens or maps, or whatever for these mods on our site, as longs as it does not contain 'stolen items'.
I think we all proved our deep gratefulness on many occasions to Major Pain, he is a great friend for many, the best modelmaker around and a moderator for many years. But that does not mean we can't discuss certain discissions, in all respect and without meaning to do harm or insult. In last weeks some issues where at hand behind the screens, I had some conversations with the Major and I think some of my writings were honest but confronting. Thereby there have been many difficult moments in MP life and all in all I think he needs a break. I honestly don't think our friend left the forum permanent. I consider this a 'time out', and expect to see him apear within a month.. But that's only my prediction.

Discussing is a must and the base for any following Decisions. Thats what im doing day by day. My own Modcreating had a horrible Phase when i realized how the Situation is, and i already wanted to quit but brought up the Energy to delete the work of Months and start from Zero. Some may ask why i did this, i did it because i wanted to create something i can share to anyone without further Troubles but also because i respect any Artists/Modellers/Coders/... work.
In Fact i dont know any Facts about the Issue itself and i dont want to become involved. I can only state that if a Mod has Objects with questionable Content - why dont you rework it, guys? You dont need to invest so much time as i had to, feel free to ask me if you need my knowledge about Modstructures.
Its possible to edit existing Mods (even if there are already Maps created for) without investing Months of work.

No one is in possession of the truth, because this is very relative.
If you are a humble person, you're much more likely to go much further.
Very wise words of our friend Major Pain.
He has always treated me with extreme courtesy, which I greatly appreciated.
He has helped me when I had doubts, as I've seen with all and sundry.
That is why my community work never meant anything to make me tired.
I've always made my job the best way possible, because I think that this was able to cheer my small and great friend.
Never forget that this is a game and therefore we must all, without exception, have a good time with friends.
Big Joe.

You guys really know how to kick a guy when he is down. But I mean it in a good way.
I have many good friends here... some that I have known since the first days of Blitzkrieg.
I promise, I won't be far off.... but I need time to recover from the medical issues.
I truly believed I could get back home and get back to work. Well, I was very wrong about that. It is impossible for me to sit at my (NEW) desk right now. The sitting position is not helping my pain and really stressing my back and hips. The kids have been trying to solve this, but so far no luck. Then there is the concentration and focus issue.
The Drugs I must take keep me drowsy and affect my mood. I'm kind of punchy most of the time, so sometimes my words are way too harsh for ordinary conversation.
I had a Doctor Appointment last week. He thinks my recovery could last well into January, just to heal the back and hip and for my body to re-adjust from the Radiation Therapy. What they did not tell me was the lasting effects of the type of Radiation I received. It really knocks you on your ass. You can't eat and sleep on a set schedule. You do it when you are ready and able. I'm walking pretty well with a cane, but the hip is still tender.
I hope this does not sound like a bunch of excuses. This is very difficult for me. I must again apologize for all of my public conversation during my illness. And I must apologize for recent actions. I'd like to blame the Drugs and Pain, but I still am responsible for my actions and statements. It is better that I stay silent so I don't cause misunderstandings and issues. I will answer email and PM, but be patient.
I continue to Monitor things in the Forum. I have not heard from Alexander yet. I expect he will check in soon. If he will at least add someone to assist me, then it will help a lot. I still come here several times a day but its a bad idea for me to talk right now.
If you all can put up with my situation for a while, I'll give it another go when I can. But my model building is on hold right now. And I don't think I will want to be very visible for a while. As things improve for me, I'll feel like conversing more.
My wife is watching what I write, so I maintain a sense of professionalism... ha! She's my Editor right now. She has already held all the other jobs I needed her to do over the years.
To those that know my real identity. Please do not contact me by Facebook. Please use my MP Email. I cannot afford to mix my Real Life and Game Life in one format or site. This could cause me serious issues with my Professional Colleagues and my job.
I do truly appreciate the kinds words. Thank you.
I'm watching... for now...
Until later...
MP

Good to see you're still around! Take your time, Doug. In future we all can think of how to assist you on monitoring the forum. Maybe its a good idea to devide tasks. Keep safe!

Thank you for your response Major. Recover your health and return when you are ready. We will be here. I had a feeling it was because of the pain and the drugs. You are too dedicated to this site and game to just bail out like that.
It is up to us to make sure this site does not get out of control. We should know the rules. Let us prove it to Doug till his full return soon.
