Hi guys, here's my first attempt to skin armour. In fact my firts attempt to skin anything It's not yet what I had in mind but I just discovered the Gimp and this is all very new to me. (BTW Very powerful program this Gimp!). The model is by Krest and Kevin. The Winter skin is based upon a skin made by "master skinner " Gagarin. Now I guess I need to make a "death skin". A new challenge ahead
Edit: Because of the positive feedback I feel confident enough to share the Winter skin for the "Jagdpanther_SdKfz173_Late" The Summer skin, by Gagarin is included in the zip file. (Thanks Gagarin) Model: Krest/Kevin Skins: Summer Skin by Gagarin, Winter Skin by Quintaxel (based upon Gagarin's Summer Skin)Skins

Good fellow Quintaxel! My opinion (as a bit of understanding in this matter) - is very good and realistic.

Thank you gagarin. If the model has your approval then I will share it after I made the death skin.

Very impressive indeed!
You seem to be a natural.
Ok, I'm going to leave the skinning to you pros and start mapping out a campaign I've been dying to get started.
You guys are way beyond my talents.
Great job, Quin!
Ciao, John

Hi john, you should not give up skinning! Now I feel like somewhat guilty for posting this topic But if you want to start mapping a campaign because you enjoy it, please do so! I sure look forward to seeing your work. And.....thanks for the compliment but I have no more talent than you. I use to make models so maybe this gives me a little head start, that's all

Sorry, Quin. I didn't mean to insinuate that I was giving it up. It's a question of priorities. Lately, I've been finishing up my infantry, planning out the update for my mod, downloading MP's new units, trying to get the random map maker to put out some decent maps, and wondering whether I should go campaign, chapter, or just release a series of SP maps, . . . and also wondering if they would be better as MP maps.
So, between my wife, my job, and other real-life responsibilities, I find any time for modding a luxury.
So, please don't feel guilty. Between Wittmann, VO, and now you, there are more than enough skinners to make everyone happy. I've just decided to go in a different direction, that's all.
I'll be back with a skin or two now and again.
Thanks.
Ciao, John

We all will find our best place... our niche... John I have to agree with Quin.. you really haven't given it enough time... so far the work you have shown me does show you have a good eye for detail and very excellent potential...
I Started as a skinner and code writer... and look where that took me now.

Hey guys,
Ok, first, thanks for the vote of confidence.
Second, I apologize for using the wrong terminology.
What I should have said was:
"I have a couple of other projects I need to knock out so I'm going to take a short break but when I get back I'll be skinning my hide off."
I still have plans to make a separate skin for the Po-2VS_100, updating my Tiger Ausf H skins, and I was thinking about skinning a series of historical vehicles, . . . Wittmann's Tiger, . . . Natalya Melkin's Po-2VS, . . . Patton's M4A3, . . . etc.
Of course, I'll need a little more practice before I attempt going there.
I've been keeping up with WSS-Wittmann's tutorials and have been studying his technique. Plus, I've been watching GIMP tutorials on u-tube in between all of these other things I have going on.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Ciao, John

Hey Quin,
Are you going to add the summer skin along with your winter skin in the release?
Krest and Kevin did an amazing job on the model. And Gagarin's skins speak for themselves. Wonderful job all.
We're going to have to nickname you, "The Mighty Quin".
Ciao, John

.... So, between my wife, my job, and other real-life responsibilities, I find any time for modding a luxury. .... I recognize this. I could go into my signature The Summer skin is Gagarin's but if he agrees then I could make the icon512_h.dds, the icon_h.dds and icon.tga so he can share the unit as a complete package. I would like to expirement with the GIMP some more. I'm thinking of making weathered Winter skins for the T-34 based upon Gagarins Summer skins. But first I need to finish the Jagdpanzer.

Quintaxel, Without problems. Do Jagdpanther for what you think is right.
Series of T-34 is better to wait the new corrected units. I have collected a huge mass of material on them. I want to make the maximum authentic model. But it takes more time.

Hi Gagarin, Thanks, I will make a complete package including Winter and Summer skin. I have started already on T-34, playing with GIMP airbrush and other tools just testing new techniques to improve my skills. It is just training I will take your advise to wait for the improved T-34 models.
