Translations

Mornin' all,

I hope I am doing this correctly...a few members have suggested that perhaps a separate thread be started for the maps that   bb  has been kind enough to send me for our enjoyment so this is it. I envisage the contents thus:

1.. Chinese maps translated into English
2.. Maps/mods translated into English from any source
3.. Questions concerning problems with translations
4.. Requests for translations to English from any language

I know that I have leaned heavily towards the ""English"" but that is my native language and other than French I am not multilingual and of course I am able to give a better idiomatic conversion of the text but of course all are welcome...but you take your chances with my translations to any other languages and I doubt that they would be much better than the sources presently available on the web etc. ( hate to have another thread for ""longfellow's attempted translations"" )          besides you have other great translators/ sites for conversions into their respective languages who are able to do a much better job than I could ever hope to do.

I would, however, like your input as to the procedure you would like adopted


Would you like each and every pak file put here or would a link to the one drive be sufficient ?... Would someone like to host the files I have on the one drive on their blog/website?.. and of course.......do we even need this thread??

I mention the one drive because I understand that this link, to some, may be tenuous at best but believe it or not it was only a recent discovery on my part ( yup....that's how far behind the times I am ) It does however give me a chance to share the files with others while at the same time (somewhat selfishly I admit) offer a means of structure and enhancement to my BK playing by knowing that this map will play with this mod etc. etc. I understand that these questions/statements may be bringing  ""snowshoes to Eskimos" because of the expertise of the present members but  I remember the days of the BK Portal and how it helped to cultivate my interest in the game.

What works for you works for me....and apologies for being long-winded (again      )  but best waste a minute now than hours later.

i think is right order each map depending of the bk version and mod need. i can't help you about suggest you a cool instrument to translate ...

First, a praise for you initiative on collecting, translating and organizing maps. which, after all, are a much needed feature for the game.

Secondly, if I may, I think that here in this thread you could adopt other mappers standards, mening a an illustrative picture, map specifications and a short comment. And, at the bottom, a ling to the drive where it is filed.
I'd suggest you to check, for instance, Keepitsimple's thread on FR40 or Hungaryblitz's HRA.
I only hope it's not too much work for you,

There are ten maps here mostly by ZYonizuka  but individual credits are given where applicable to other authors and all run/play very well with the exception of two that won't play out  (WIP).  good gaming...


bb   out of the 17 maps and I chapter you sent me for HF on the 20th October, 4 were maps which originally existed:

Night Mission.pak...196 KB..................BKHF Dark Mission_EN.pak
to change the victim's.pak..484 KB......BKHFVictims of Changes_EN.pak
Fo Langzi.pak...380 KB......................BKHFLisianka.pak
the end.pak......172 KB.....................RTHFThe End.pak

One has no .xml file............crossing death.pak  606 KB
Note..the names of the original files may or may not mean anything to you as they were sent in their original Chinese names for so I have included the KB size to assist you if you are looking for them

The remaining two I am still trying to get to play out.(as mentioned above)


The chapter you sent (have no choice(section) .pak...7167 KB) is unfortunately just a collection of some of his maps with no continuity I could find but the good news is that 6 of the 10 maps in the chapter are included in the above link .Really good news is that the other 4 are new maps which I have extracted from the chapter and I am working on them. This is in no way meant to be critical as it is impossible to know which maps are duplicates  until you run them, trust your memory that the map  looks familiar then start searching for the original.


So that's it everyone almost everything I have received from the East...good gaming and I hope you like them..by my standards they are tough and I have attempted to be as clear and concise as I could in the translations. Follow his (ZYonizuka) instructions carefully..he is quirky.

So now I need a Stahlsole expert and info re an HF map ""Flussubergang""...river crossing I believe with the umlaut. Just can't get it to play out...I don't lose, don't win it just sits there and hums..I have the basic idea of how it plays but I am missing something in the Chinese traslation..

To all.....

If any one has played any of the conversions yet I would be interested in finding out what you think of them.....not from the translation standpoint but as to whether they are good, bad, or just mediocre..I find some of them quite difficult but I would like to hear from the experts..

Hi everyone...

I am about to start on around 20 -30 translations into English  maps originally in the German language that I received from    kaoz   but before I do so would like to ask if our German speaking members would like a link to the maps in their original form ie German. ?? They are older maps so you may have them already and they may have an English version available but it is quicker for me if I do them in bulk. Comments and suggestions please..good or bad ...it's your Forum.
