You are the one, my friend, glad to see "one place only" to all BK maps like in the old days of BKP. I'll try these maps once I have time again. BTW, if you dont mind, I'll send you all my works to you, so you can keep it too. Regards, BB

I am about to start on around 20 -30 translations into English maps originally in the German language that I received from kaoz but before I do so would like to ask if our German speaking members would like a link to the maps in their original form ie German. ?? They are older maps so you may have them already and they may have an English version available but it is quicker for me if I do them in bulk. Can you send me these maps by PM please ? I will search if i have the english versions, it could save you lots of time, the old maps in german language are for the most part already translated into english, but sometimes there's an exception

Scyooff I just ran some of the maps thru the translator and although headers are in German the rest of the text is in English... I guess I would have found that out when I went to translate the text. I'll just run a check now to see if I already have them in the one drive and delete the duplicates and post the ones that are missing. Thanks for your assistance Cheers Check your PM for the one that was in German

Hi Longfellow,
A problem that should be addressed are side instructions generally appearing in game situations, usually scripted in lua files. I think I saw somewhere how to deal with those when not written in Western format - Cyrillic or Chinese, e.g. - but I can't remember where. If you could find it out, I'd be glad to help with this, editing lua files.

Hi Longfellow, A problem that should be addressed are side instructions generally appearing in game situations, usually scripted in lua files. If you could find it out, I'd be glad to help with this, editing lua files. Hi ...absolutely ..when I started this project I did say that I was not going to touch the lua files because of my inexperience. so feel free to do as you wish. As Scyooff says Notepad++ works like a charm and I used it until my translator was updated as it would just read Cyrillic but not Chinese...I mean the rectangles and such. Thanks for the help and if you need assistance just drop me a note.... you may as I did run into some curious translations but I have notes on the most frequent idioms. Cheers and thanks for the help

Anyway, other comments are fairly translatable in this map. I just don't know how to send it to you...

I have Notepad++, used it, as you suggested, and the Chinese characters appeared. Just that.

Mascarenhas2As you have probably found out by now the actual translation to literal English is quite easy..it's the idiomatic that's the toughie. Line 3 t作 者 : ZYonizuka ...........Author : ZYonizuka Line 54 Zhùyì! Dírén de zhuāngjiǎ bùduì zhèngzài bījìn!........The enemy's armor is closing in on you Line 219 Zhè yǒuyī liàng xiàn zài yūní zhōng de tǎnkè!...........There is a tank stuck in the mud Line 228 这 辆 工 程 车 修 修 还 能 用 。 or Zhè liàng gōngchéng chē xiū xiū hái néng yòng....... This vehicle repair car repair works are also able to use or You are now able to make use of the repair depot Line 236 敌 人 的 增 援 部 队 正 在 逼 近 , 尽 快 组 织 防 御 !.....Dírén de zēngyuán bùduì zhèngzài bījìn, jǐnkuài zǔzhī fángyù! Enemy reinforcements approaching, organize the defense as soon as possible!..........Enemy reinforcements are approaching, prepare/setup your defensive positions. You probably managed these 5 with no trouble and I included the roman Chinese definition as well as the Chinese characters because in some cases you will have to rely on the former more than the latter. This is the case with 铁 流 千 钧 which becomes Tieliu one thousand Jun but the roman Chinese is Tiě liú qiān jūn Note that Tielui has now become two words Tiě liú. ..meaning black stone or Rhodalite...well no clue there. The authors name was a clue ZYonizuka..real or not a Japanese name so armed with a Sino-Japanese dictionary I got my first clue... Tiě liú becomes 体 Ě 力 Ú (Japanese/Chinese characters) meaning body force. Tiě liú qiān jūn.....The third word qiān means thousand and the fourth word jūn means equal but using a Chinese Military context dictionary it means armed forces. Now we have""Black night of a thousand forces."" and you could have given the Scenario that name. I read the description.txt, ran the scenario and discovered that it was a battle in and around the Kursk salient, not actually the main assault because there is mention in the other .txt files that air support is limited because your aircraft are taking part in the main assault so I came up with the name ""In the area of Kursk"" which has a more military feel when you say ""Bei Kursk"" So there you have it..long winded perhaps and yup I could have just answered your post with ""Bei Kursk"" but I wanted to give you the idea of how much work you are getting yourself in for. This reply may be oversimplified but it is in no way meant as an insult to your intelligence or your ability.. just a guide to the process. You really need to ask yourself if work involved justifies 4 or 5 lines of text which pretty well fly by in a second and they are included anyway in the upper right hand part of the screen in the mission via the various text files 1h.txt. 1txt etc etc. Your reasoning perhaps is ""because it's there''........ point taken. I have no idea how you can get them to me other than providing a link to your finished product but I wish you good luck and when I am finished with the 15 or so translations I have I will split the maps with you. Thanks so much for your help Saludos! Scyooff You need to change the encoding my friend.... open Notepad++, click encoding and change it to"" Encode in UCS-2 Little Endian"" and make sure you have Chinese and Japanese character sets installed. That's what worked for me but as Mascarenhas2 said it worked right out of the box when I installed it. Thanks for your help Cheers
